SIREN, Wisconsin -- A Wisconsin woman says she was scared out of her mind Friday after a run-in with a black bear.
Marlene Thomsen was making her way home from ice fishing outside of Siren, Wisconsin, when she came face to face with the bear.
Thomsen, who is a great grandmother, turned around and ran back to the fish house, while the bear followed.
"Then he started to walk towards me. I kept running more. Then he stopped and I was like 10 feet from the fish house and I was like out of gas. I almost didn't make it. I've got a great heart I think," Marlene said.
Marlene waited things out in the fish house until the bear wandered off. She says it's unusual to see a bear in the winter. But she said there is a bear den near her home.
In a sense I look forward to having great grandfather experiences like this.
I wonder if the Bear was sick. Can’t imagine a woman out running a Bear on Ice.
I would have thrown him my fish, and made a break for it.

Thanks for this.
I sent this on to my buds as we used to deer hunt in the Siren area.
Tom’s Bar!!!!
Granny, get your gun.
I wonder if she’s related to that English granny who chased off 3 robbers with her pocketbook.
Oh, I was thinking about little red riding hood, but her granny was eaten by a wolf not a bear.
Obviously you've never been ice fishing.......if worse comes to worse, you wrestle the bear....winner take all.
Please signal that you’re OK...
That Granny who tangled with the robbers. Had to have been an enforcer with some NHL team.
I’m guessing the bear was a little groggy from hibernating and wasn’t in top form. Still, it’s a great story in that local story kind of way.
If only she did a cell phone video, she'd be famous, the bear too.
Today was at Bear Belly in the U.P. Snow mobiling.
Famous for black bear.
Good fun.
Here’s my ‘signal’ for ya...LOL!
Yep. She was a GREAT Grandma up until the bear ate her!
LOL now that is funny...:O) and witty
:)
When I was 13 and out hunting with my uncle & 2 cousins we startled a mother bear and 2 cubs. She charged us and we had no choice but to shoot. I was closest person to the bear and she was only about 5 feet away when she went down.
I was so terrifed I shook like a leaf for the rest of the day, and had to replace my shorts as well.
For some reason this reminds me of a commercial.
