Yes!

The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club made their decree Thursday morning in central Pennsylvania: Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, and there'll be six more weeks of winter. The announcement was met with boos from the enormous crowd gathered in Punxsutawney.

Folks in the East and elsewhere gave a collective shrug, as temperatures have been unseasonably warm. "But it's the winter we've been having, so that's like spring anyway," said Matt Lauer on TODAY after the news broke.

"The daffodils are already in bloom in NW Mississippi," wrote Jackie Barnes Garrett

Is Donald Trump going to be so crass with his pending announcement that he's going to knock our local celebrity off the front page?

Our weatherman was distraught.

Tell me about it. I have 13 more brush piles to burn and snow make it a hell of a lot easier to do so. Now I’ll have to use a rake and fill as many bottles with water as I can. A major PitA.

I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 8-year-old grandson
and I asked him, “What day is tomorrow?”
He said “It’s President’s Day!”

He is a smart kid. So, I asked “What does President’s Day mean?”
I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln etc.

He replied, “President’s Day is when President Obama steps out of the
White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of
unemployment.”

It’s only Groundhog Day and I already smell defeat for the GOP. Just reading the threads here on FreeRepublic it’s pretty obvious that Mitt has a full-court press going to maximize the impact of his Florida victory.

Santorum is going to hang around. Newt can’t close the deal.

4 more years of economic winter.

Winter would be nice. We have had spring weather all “winter” here and no snow cover at all ATM.

The winter you are going to call down upon us all by mocking it with that statement. For some reason, it always packs its biggest punch in February here in SW Pennsylvania.

Mosquitoes nothing! It was 86 here in Florida yesterday and the pollen is already coating our cars. We haven’t seen a lick of cold weather for more than a couple of days.

In a mild winter Lake Erie stays unfrozen and the February Arctic blast pastes you with snow. In a cold winter the Lake freezes over and doesn't soften the Arctic chill, so you are screwed either way.

I saw their weather forecast. If he saw his shadow it was because they had a spotlight on him.

With all the TV lights, camera flashes Phil will always cast a shadow - they’ve ruined any pretext the tradition once held.

Always seems like the worst of winter, in terms of precipitaiton, happens when the prevailing winter weather pattern begins to shift to the spring pattern.

I live in southeastern Pennsylvania. That’s when we get the big coastal storms that can potentially drop a lot of snow or rain, depending on where the freezing temperature “line” is drawn.

How exactly does this Punxsutawney Phil thing work?
I was listening to the radio this morning at 4:55 am and they announced that Punxsutawney Philhad seen his shadow. How is that possible? The sun wasn’t even up yet.
