The earth is NOT 6,000 years old. Period.

Absolutely true.

“Creationists” are not. They are fools who make people of faith look like idiots.

The Bible is not a scientific text - its a book about morality and salvation. And people of faith who argue to try and make it otherwise are hurting all of us.

As a creationist I believe God never indicated how old the earth was. He didn’t operate on our time. Its ok with me to have scientists explore the mystery of God’s creation.

Yes God created the universe and man tries to find the how.

Too bad the ego’s of some scientists limit themselves by rejecting God’s hand in creation.

When people talks about Noah’s ark, and “all the species”, and brings the problem of placing thousands and thousands of animals inside the ship, they forget something.

The concept of species as we know it comes from Linnaeus, c.1753. That’s a few years after Noah. Why would a text from Noah’s age use a XVIII century definition to count the species? It doesn’t. It can’t. The usage of that definition is a subtle mistake.

Now we can tackle the issue. Nowhere in the bible says “6,000 years” with “year” meaning “one time around the sun”. That usage comes from other modern mistakes. For example, see the link at #11.

“The earth is NOT 6,000 years old. Period.”

A careful reading of Genesis 1 would reveal:

1. God created the Earth.

2. The six-day creation period begins with Earth already
present. The Earth probably is billions of years old.

Did you get that from reading God’s Word?

You’re right though. They’ve been saying the earth is 6,000 years old for 20 years now. It’s probably more like 6,014 years old.

The earth is NOT 6,000 years old. Period.

Likely not, but the Bible doesn't claim it is either. That number is based solely on lineage from Adam. There's nothing to indicate how long Earth existed prior to Adam and Eve's creation or even if Adam and Eve were the ONLY people God created. The story simply starts with them.

I guess that would depend on which year you are speaking of. A year is a complete rotation around the sun. This makes a year is relative to your location. A year on earth is not the same as another planet. One earth year is equal to approx 365 earth days while a year on Jupiter is equal to approx 4332 earth days. A year based on God’s location my be very different to one based on an earth year.

I also believe that the bible mixes heavenly time and earth time. I am not sure how to tell which is which but it’s obvious that a day is not always a day and a year is not always a year. Just my 2 cents....

The Bible doesn’t say it is, either.
