Five Independent Signs Of New Physics In The Universe
Forbes ^ | 4 Nov, 2016 | Ethan Siegel

Posted on 11/06/2016 8:17:45 AM PST by MtnClimber

Since the Large Hadron Collider at CERN turned on, it’s brought with it an incredible slew of results. Large numbers of rare, exotic and unstable particles have been created, and their decays have been measured to unprecedented precision. The Higgs boson has been created and observed to have a mass of 126 GeV/c2, branching and decaying in exactly the ratios the Standard Model predicts. As it now stands, we’ve detected every particle and antiparticle predicted by the most successful particle physics theory of all time. Unless we get hit by a big physics surprise, the LHC will become renowned for having found the Higgs Boson and nothing else fundamental. If these results hold, there’s no window into what lies beyond the Standard Model coming from traditional experimental particle physics.

But that by no means is the same thing as saying “the Standard Model is all there is.” Quite to the contrary, there are a large number of observations that tell us quite clearly that there’s very likely more to the Universe than just the quarks, leptons and bosons of the Standard Model. While experiments are telling us that low-energy supersymmetry and extra dimensions probably don’t exist (or are so constrained that they’re irrelevant), there are plenty of pieces of evidence that there’s more to existence than the Standard Model alone. What else is out there? There are five strong, independent lines of inquiry that reveal there’s got to be something.

There has to be an idiot particle. Nothing else provides a scientific explanation for clinton voters.

Our best and brightest struggle to grasp what God has wrought.....much good science and inventions have come of it but we are probably just scratching the surface of what He did by speaking it all into existence.

YES. Already identified several years ago...

One of the most significant insights into the nature of reality as been posited by Stephen Hawkins who claims tat the microcosm is a microcosm of the macrocosm. What is true of the particular is true of the general, etc. There must, then be a universal condition that reflects the chaos of a Obama/Clinton debacle.
Of course this presupposes a moral condition fundamental to the nature of things. Which brings us back to the Godhead. Ultimately only the presence of evil can explain the democrat party.

Seems if you think wind, water, soil, and fire are the only elements, and, therefore, the only things used in experiments, then the only conclusions are those must be the only elements.

We are using only particles and properties that we know. When we discover more, we’ll add more and get different results.

I heard Neil DeGrasse (yeah, I know) say that scientists understand about 15% of what happens on Earth and about 10% of what occurs in the universe. I am curious, if this is true, that anyone can say anything about science with absolute certainty, like climate change and the causes are absolute. I wouldn’t bet a horse with those sort of odds.

I’m always a little suspicious when tests and experiments show us exactly what we expected to see. Makes me wonder if the experiment is unintentionally skewed. I’m not saying I think it is. Just that if it were my experiment, I’d be checking and re-checking and looking for independent verification.

In order to know a particular percentage of something, one must first know the whole of it. Obviously NdeG knows everything. NdeG is a total idiot.

...

I doubt it. If anything, the experimenters wanted to find an exception to the Standard Model, not confirm it.

The LHC is colliding beams of LIGHT on each other to observe particles cast off in the collisions.

The fundamental understanding underlying this endeavor is that matter is condensed light.

The investigation is then to discover all the particles that make up matter and so understand how light created matter.

God is light.

Everything in the so called universe is a projection of the Ego. It doesn’t exist at all unless perceived.

I don't think calling they can close down shop just yet. There's plenty more unknowns out there not to mention the 'Unknown, Unknowns' ( hat tip to Rumsfeld).

The Higg's Boson, for example, was postulated to exist as a field or matrix that all other 'things' exist within (sort of) to impart mass within this space.

Previously, I thought of it as various boats and things in a lake. The boats all cause displacement, due to volume and mass (surface objects). The water itself has nothing to due with the mass/volume of the objects or the displacement caused by the objects. the water "allows" for the observation of those characteristics.

This is a simple model with a number of things eliminated (density of water for example) but using it, when you extend the model past the basic description of the Higg's Field, you come up against walls or other possibilities, like postulations of Super Symmetry.

Gravity, does it propitiate, within space-time, like observable events (say, light)? And I've not been able (could be just me) to see how quantum states of particles, in particular, entanglement are addressed.

And to think we could have had the Large Hadron Collider in the USA. Texas.

G_d is light.

There you go. Simple as that. Now when these highly enlightened scientists begin to understand their dogma evolves just like everything else, they'll make some real breakthroughs.

> “God may not be the next explanation but He will always be the Final Explanation.”

There will never be a final explanation by science. Science will never explain God.

There will never be a finality in science because science must REDUCE sensory observation to measurement, to computation. to mathematics, whereas consciousness and awareness of existence are outside such reduction.

Time 9:39 to 10:00:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuHORQoauWo

A computer no matter how advanced can never have ‘understanding’, have a ‘soul’.

If you backtrack a bit in the above youtube link of the interview of Sir Roger Penrose, you will hear him mention of Kurt Gödel who was the greatest philosopher of the 20th century and perhaps of all human history.

Albert Einstein considered Kurt as his most cherished friend and looked up to him more than any other contemporary. He once stated that his own theories were not so much of interest to him as was the daily lunchtime walk he looked forward to with Kurt at Princeton.

Whereas Albert looked outward to the universe in an attempt to explain nature, Kurt looked inward to the mind.

In science and human reasoning, it is the mind where things start. Kurt explained to Albert why his unified theory fell short; Albert was intrigued. The two were seen walking alone together most every day.

Gödel was never as famous as Einstein until the advent of the computer age. Theoretical computer scientists and Artifical Intelligence designers study intensely the works of Gödel and his followers, as did I.

God cannot be ‘reduced’. God is both Alpha and Omega, both a singularity and the infinite. There is no dimension that contains God; no time, no space, no mass. God is light, God is connectedness, God is love. All these stem from consciousness which begets awareness and existence. These things are mysteries, metaphysical and so are shunned because they are not attainable, not within reach, not available to grab and make one’s property, not subject to the selfish will of the fallen human. They are out of reach of human selfishness.

The first Human was created in the IMAGE OF GOD. That image is the existence of a soul. That soul has UNDERSTANDING. Computers will never have understanding.

Human understanding will always be LIMITED OR INCOMPLETE. It can and will devise systems and theories that are complete as I have, but such theories and systems are and always will be LIMITED. Theories that are complete will be internally consistent but never fully comprehensive.

It is approved and encouraged to pursue science and scientific understanding. But the awareness of our fallen nature is very important. Our progenitor chose by the ‘free will of understanding’ to exist apart from God, to follow darkness, to fall under the deceit of evil, thus rendering us LIMITED AND INCOMPLETE and subjecting our physical nature to mortality which impedes our UNDERSTANDING which is the state of presence with God.

Still, we should look for our heroes in science and encourage our children accordingly. Because good things come from science and everything that is good originates from God. Health, happiness, extension of lifetimes and improvement in the quality of lives, all these are good. Science is thus a gift but as a summary, as a reduction of our souls is limited and incomplete. The good news is that this state of physical mortality is temporary.

So where do these considerations apply? They help us not to waste time. They make our thinking and efforts more efficient. We can use the Gödel models of human intellect to test whether a targeted result is attainable or intractable. Thus, it helps to guide us in science.
