A secret cubicle in the floor of a dungeon, topped by a trapdoor in which the unfortunate victim is dropped and forgotten. It is a tomb in which the condemned dies.
French origin, mettre aux oubliettes, metaporically, assigned to oblivion.

Dweezil Zappa is on tour again, playing many of his father's songs. I hope he plays "The Torture Never Stops," which is about life in a dungeon as a prisoner but not as one of the condemned in an OUBLIETTE down below.

Sort of what it's like trying to talk to dispatch wanting more fuel or changing the flight plan.
I was OUBLIETTE'd when trying to get the dispatcher to give me more fuel and change my flight plan around a MAJOR THUNDERSTORM that the nitwit couldn't understand. OUBLIETTE'd.
