The wreckage of the plane that went missing while carrying Cardiff City's record signing, Emiliano Sala, and pilot David Ibbotson has been found on the seabed of the English Channel, the UK's Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB) has confirmed to ESPN.

The Piper Malibu aircraft went missing on Jan. 21 after disappearing from air traffic control's radar while flying over the English Channel on the way to Cardiff, Wales.

Sala had just completed a £15 million transfer to Cardiff City from French Ligue 1 side Nantes and had been due to train with his new teammates the next day.

Not to speak poorly of the dead but, with those ears why did he need a plane?

His story was broadcast on either the CBS Evening News or ABC Evening News a few weeks ago.

The young man called someone....maybe his family....and said the plane was coming apart and he was scared.

I never heard of him either until the story of his disappearance was on national TV here in America. Nonetheless, what happen to him is indeed tragic.

The English Channel ranges from 20-150 miles wide and 350 miles long and is 29,000 square miles. It is a little smaller than the size of South Carolina.

...

With that kind of money he could have hired a better plane. Do they not have Netjets over there?

“Emiliano Sala”

Hispanic superstar signer who only became famous after being dead, like Celena or whoever she is, perhaps?

He was one the world’s best strikers and he’d just been signed to play for Cardiff for millions of dollars when he flew across the Channel in an old, rickety, poorly-maintained Piper that was being flown by an amateur pilot not licensed to ferry passengers.

It’s a real tragedy to the team, the city and his family.

“What about Glenn Miller?”

Stories vary from plane lost in the channel, augering in at a bomb test range in England, to dying from a massive coronary in a Paris brothel.
