Nature’s gifts to our planet are the millions of species that we know and love, and many more that remain to be discovered. Unfortunately, human beings have irrevocably upset the balance of nature and, as a result, the world is facing the greatest rate of extinction since we lost the dinosaurs more than 60 million years ago. But unlike the fate of the dinosaurs, the rapid extinction of species in our world today is the result of human activity.
The unprecedented global destruction and rapid reduction of plant and wildlife populations are directly linked to causes driven by human activity: climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking and poaching, unsustainable agriculture, pollution and pesticides to name a few. The impacts are far reaching.
If we do not act now, extinction may be humanity’s most enduring legacy.

Progress is an amazing thing. In times past, crackpots had to wave signs and ring bells or scream and run and shout. Now they have the internet. Stupid knows no bounds or eras.
It’s like they are daring the God they don’t believe in to pick Earth Day as the day He’ll “ring the doorbell”.
These misanthropes work tirelessly to inject their doctrines into schools, so they must thrive on scaring little kids.
I live in farming country, we live with our activities dictated by the seasons that were created by god. I plant, I plan, I save crops, and I watch each day to see what comes about from gods plan. Currently I’m watching as the country awakens from winter. The reason I know god exists is each day I see his hand in my life. I am very grateful for the chance to continue forward. If they are fatalistic, it’s their choice. Not my path.
1970’s it was the coming ice age.
1980’s the Ozone hole
Then 1990’s came Al Gore and global warming.
Each time the threat passed and the world did not end, but the liars did get rich selling their books and collecting grant money
every time one of these catastrophic events is predicted, the person predicting should be noted - then class action lawsuit instigated- for false advertising - never happen but might stop the conmen and women from trying
Each generation there’s sirens on the rocks beckoning. Parents need to teach their children not to get caught in the songs (BS). I afraid the parents are dumber than the children. Climate Change is a farce, every year about midwinter I pray for some.
And the horrors of clearcutting, and paper bags... you could hear the trees crying as the groceries were bagged!
(Which made me wonder where was their compassion for all the trees and bushes that were tangled up in the environmentally-correct plastic bags.)
Not to mention all the northern part of California that burnt because people couldn’t keep their property clean of brush and weeds.
When Hollywood and rich politicians start cutting down on their CO2 footprint, so will I.
We never lost the dinosaurs. Humans did not exist then. Humans only exist because dinosaurs became extinct.
To think otherwise is insanity. I will trade our existence for that of the dinosaurs any time.
Thank God, literally, for that!

Well, Algor is doing just that. He has solar panels on his multiple mansions, and his 100ft. houseboat is bio-Diesel powered.

I use Erf Day as an occasion to dump all my toxic chemicals, industrial solvents, and leftover rat poison in one of Minnesota’s many convenient wetlands.

I think he still has to reduce his carbon footprint to something like a coal mine fire before he can practice what he preaches.
