Penetrating from Iran, a wave of cholera swept the entire Soviet Black Sea coast in 1970.

In 1971, I was headed for Europe to spend a year studying in Germany. Because I planned to travel to the Soviet Union, I was vaccinated against cholera.

I worked in China in 1976-1977. Got cholera, typhus, typhoid, yellow fever, tetanus and a whole bunch of other vaccinations to be able to go.
