Author, theologian, and preacher John Piper released a new book on Wednesday called Coronavirus and Christ, which offers biblical answers and hope amid the present COVID-19 pandemic.
"In the midst of this fear and uncertainty, it is natural to wonder what God is doing," Piper said on his ministry's website.
The book's description says:
In Coronavirus and Christ, John Piper invites readers around the world to stand on the solid Rock, who is Jesus Christ, in whom our souls can be sustained by the sovereign God who ordains, governs, and reigns over all things to accomplish his wise and good purposes for those who trust in him. Piper offers six biblical answers to the question, What is God doing through the coronavirus?—reminding us that God is at work in this moment in history.
In a video introduction, Piper says:
"This is a serious book, because these are serious times. It's a book about reality, not sentimental imaginations — that's not what we need, that's not what our kids need ... We don't need sentimental substitutes for reality, we need reality. God is real; death is real; life is real; Jesus Christ — crucified and risen and reigning — is real; salvation is real; eternal joy is real."
John Piper told Disrn:
"Coronavirus and Christ attempts to be a little echo of the thunder clap call of God in this epidemic for the world and the church to repent and bring our lives into alignment with the infinite worth of Jesus."
