You can just imagine, how devastated businesses which deal with all these office workers are. Fast food places, restaurants, other retailers which have done a lot of business from the small city of office worker customers who were there every weekday, are suddenly not there. The customer base for many businesses is just gone.
I’m sure this is happening in many other cities besides Washington.
Look at the number of restaurants that have gone under. Most of the small businesses and shops in the downtowns near me are empty.
Ive had occasion to visit a couple of fair sized cities (300-500k people) ove the past few months. I never cease to be amazed at how empty they are. Several places, you could walk down the middle of Main St in the evening....its bizarre.
Meanwhile, real estate outside the cities is through the roof. My neighborhood has increased in value by 40%!in the past few months, and homes are selling overnight.
Mainly in states run by democrats.
