Myth: The United States lost the war in Vietnam.
Fact: The American military was not defeated in Vietnam. The American military did not lose a battle of any consequence. From a military standpoint, it was almost an unprecedented performance. General Westmoreland quoting Douglas Pike (a professor at the University of California, Berkeley), a major military defeat for the VC and NVA.
Apples and Oranges - the war was lost, that is NO MYTH. Just because the 'Fact' listed with this statement is ALSO true, has no bearing on the first.
Here's one not mentioned -
Myth: The US picked the correct side to support.

You think we should have supported the communists in the north?

Apples and Oranges - the war was lost, that is NO MYTH. The apples and oranges belong to you. The war was indeed lost, in our left-leaning Congress two years after our military forces left.
As for your
Myth: The US picked the correct side to support.
NVN had essentially lost its war-fighting capability and there was a cessation of hostilities for close to 2 years after we left. South Vietnam had a chance to survive but the Dem U.S. government no longer thought it was worth the cost to support it.
