New Rule: A Unified Theory of Wokeness
HBO/You Tube ^ | Sept, 16, 2022 | Bill Maher

Posted on 09/25/2022 7:34:35 AM PDT by foundedonpurpose

I've been saying this for years. Judging pre-industrial man on his survival from the air conditioned comfort of Starbucks on your 1000 dollar smartphone sipping on 6 dollar coffee is ludicrous.

Language Warning: some crude graphic descriptions,no profanity.

I can’t believe I’m posting Bill Maher, but he nails this.

I know I’ll get flak, that’s fine. This is really good.

Be blessed!

THANK YOU! You are correct, this is a perceptive and learned commentary by Mr Maher. He will never be a conservative but he has certainly sailed a touch to the starboard in recent years.

That was good!

He’s making great progress, but has a way to go.

When he finally becomes a Trumpist we’ll know he’s arrived.

Maher’s ability to see through the clutter’s amazing.

Seems to come from a combination of intellect, insight and a damn good varied reading lists - when he was young - or maybe over a lifetime. Someone should get those lists and weave those books into school curriculum...(Oh, and Maher also has insights into some our our sides ‘fashionable’ ideas... we get skewered too)

He knew the cure for the cause but stayed on the wrong side strange.

Another issue with “presentism” is the assumption that the now has better people in it and that its judgments are correct. This is not a particularly unique to the Woke attitude.

“Having a gay friend” that Maher references is just one example where the present has gone totally off of the rails.

And it isn’t that the Woke are just wrongly tolerant, for wrong tolerance is not a just Woke thing, but that they frequently seek to be proactively affirming of what should never be tolerated ... as well as to transform tolerance for something that deserves tolerance (like race) into the basis of intolerance in the farcical quest to balance the scales. With homosexuality and genderism this translates into all too real efforts to rob children of innocence and pervert their ways because the Woke support those who are themselves corrupt and perverted. So rather than see themselves as helping to groom kids to their ruination they seem to think they are liberating them and being supportive.

Wokeness is heavily influenced by Critical Theory, or Cultural Marxism. Understanding that Cultural Marxism was intended to destroy and subvert what is, the present, and not just what has been so that this just world they feverishly imagined about would appear as if by magic once everything that wasn’t it was gone is needed to see why Wokism isn’t just “presentism” even though they use presentism like a club to mercilessly pummel people both living and dead.

I don’t care for Maher, but sometimes he nails it. This is yet another.

But I will NEVER watch his show to await his rare awakening: I’ll catch it here.

This probably is a good thing.

Not because Bill Maher is suddenly one of us, or because I agree with this particular riff…

But because he sets the tone for the left side, and probably reads their tea leaves better than most on the right. A riff like this says to me that “The times, they are a changin’.

Sometimes just not slouching as far into Gomorrah as others eagerly do around you can amount to having insight into those you didn’t keep up with.

It’s like an opposite trope of the boy who leaves his simple home to become a hero and then return home wiser and better ... one where it is the guy who stayed didn’t go stark raving mad in the company of all those who left thinking that leaving would help make them wise and good.

Good points.

Also, to be a good comedian you have to be able to see the reality under polished phony facades. Our foibles are funny. Unfortunately that skill’s a lot harder to teach. If it can be taught at all...

Did you see Maher’s skit on ‘things banned from movies’? Can’t say this word, that word, can’t show this idea that idea etc etc... with the exception of gun violence. Gun violence is portrayed in all it’s glourious pornographic extreme when ‘the good guy kills... and as only a ‘scratch’ when the good guy’s hit. I totally missed that one until I saw the skit. Didn’t see the pattern. It’s easy not to question things that have become life’s background noise because we can’t see them.

The way you know you’re learning something profound is your reaction is ‘that’s so obvious - I wonder why I never saw it before’...

Which plays into your ‘staying home’ story...

The perfect definition of “Woke”

Woke means living in an alternate universe, where everyone cares about your feelings more than reality.

Where feelings trump facts, and those with mental illness can use that illness to vilify you if you don’t play along.

Woke is being highly attuned to micro aggressions and always being victimized by them.

The more victimized you are, the higher up on the rainbow colored woke scale you are.

Once you have reached the top, you have no idea who you really are, but you are confident that everyone‘s priority is you.

To those not woke, you appear to be a mentally unstable, self-loathing, self-centered and self-serving freak.
