His widow Suha lodged a complaint at a court in France in 2012, claiming that her husband was assassinated, sparking an inquiry.
The same year, Arafat's tomb in Ramallah was opened for a few hours, allowing three teams of French, Swiss and Russian investigators to collect around 60 samples.
Suha Arafat allowed investigators to exhume her husband’s body after traces of polonium-210 were found on clothing that she provided to scientists as part of an Al Jazeera documentary.
Following the investigation by the Swiss team, PA officials were quick to say that the findings proved that Arafat had been “assassinated” and, as expected, blamed Israel for the “assassination.”
In 2015, French judges closed an investigation into claims Arafat was murdered, without bringing any charges. The French court of appeal upheld the dismissal of the case, leading his widow and daughter to take their case to the ECHR.
All a charade made necessary because the PLO can't manage to quash the rumor that Arafat died from AIDS.
God Bless the Mossad.
He had food poisoning. He ate a bad weiner.

To paraphrase from Raiders of the Lost Ark, “Bad date.”
But he had the best funeral…ever.
They should give that person a medal and lifetime pension
If I recall correctly, it took a long, long time, several months for Arafat to finally die. Or, at least that was the story we the public were being told.
Arafat went for the last few months with any public appearance, so it’s possible he was dead long before the official date given. All kinds of stories were swirling around during that time on what he was really dying of.
I thought that he had assiduously avoided seeing himself in a mirror, but the day he did by accident was the day he went into a coma.
I remember President Reagan’s Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick linking Yasser Arafat to the hijacking of the Achille Lauro ship and the cold blooded pulling of passenger Leon Klinghoffer from his wheelchair and him overboard to drown and then his wheelchair tossed over afterward.
Good riddance.
one can only hope it was extremely painful...
Polonium makes sense because he worked for the CIA and it has been used by the Russians before to take out ‘problems’.
You are probably correct - it wouldn’t surprise me
good, then he went just like that fraud Mohammad.
AIDS... had him dead in rights too.
This was the moment when I began to realize that taqiyya is a real thing, and the word from those quarters is not to be trusted. Arafat went home from the 1993 Israeli-Palestinian Declaration of Principles (Camp David Accords) signed at the White House and broke the agreement immediately.
And proudly beaming Clinton? pfffft.
I thought he died of aids.
Too bad it didn’t happen sooner.
