Recommend reading Dr Paul Marik’s treatment for sepsis. Combination of intravenous Vitamin C and a group of other drugs and vitamins. It is inexpensive and immediately effective, which is not acceptable to the US medical / big Pharma mafia.
I had always associated sepsis with bacteria but it can also be caused by viruses, parasites and fungi.
