The guitar was created for Joe Pass and nobody else can really play it.

Nice. And with hands the size of dinner plates (like Leadbelly). I just missed seeing him perform in the Guitar Summit tour — he’d fallen ill on the tour, and that was the illness that ended his life.

I always thought SRV got his inspiration from Joe for Riviera Paradise

Have you tried 5 string multiscale?

I keep a 5 string Tele tuned to G, does that count? It’s a Keith Richard’s thing.

Good dogs just kinda different.

Gave the granddaughter a ukulele for her bday. She didn’t know what to think about it. She got into it after a while. May have a rocker in a couple more years.

Very different.

Good move. Had ours playing violin very young. Good all around.

lol — I suppose

My typical go-to is a 6 string, 9-24 gauge, bridge pickup only. But I did get a 5 string multiscale bass — very cool. What’s nice about the multiscale is relatively uniform string tension.

It’s a six with the bottom E removed tuned to open G. It’s a Stones/Richard’s thing.

Let it Bleed: all done on 5 string open G, and probably everything else since.

Had a friend a few years back (ok maybe 30) go fretless on his basses, great sound
