The collapse of Britain's National Health Service, the crown jewel of socialized healthcare

Great Britain's National Health Service, which is meant to provide “free” universal healthcare , is collapsing under the strain of long wait times, hidden data, and excess deaths.

Long held up as the crown jewel of “ socialized healthcare,” the world’s largest government-run system is unraveling.

The crisis has led to a surge in excess deaths that has outlasted the coronavirus pandemic, with ambulance and emergency room delays linked to hundreds of deaths each week, leaked internal data suggest . Hospitals already near capacity last fall could not keep pace as the winter flu season took hold.

After waiting hours for medical attention, patients are evaluated in ambulances, waiting rooms, or hallways, while figures show tens of thousands of people spending 12 hours or more on hospital gurneys after being admitted to the emergency department.

This was inevitable, but will hold no lessons for our home grown unteachables like Sanders, Warren, etc.

Somehow, this time it will be different.

Because Brits love their National Health Service socialized medicine so much, or some such bullshit we are told.

Socialism is a great system if you are one of the rationers in charge of rationing. Otherwise, not so much.

I would like for our politicians to have this health care system for 20 years before we consider it for the general population.

If you want to make something expensive as all heck, make it free.

People like free stuff.

Eventually, we’ll run out of other people’s money.

Some countries will take longer to fall, mostly because of their size and diversity, but, fail they will. The U.S. will fail, for sure, unless their is a huge reversal of course. It doesn’t seem that we will reverse course, because everybody seems to be going along to get along, and the fear of being cancelled is greater than being disciplined and principled.

As a matter of fact, US is on the same trajectory.
Since the Obamacare got implemented, there is hard time to find a physician and it takes months to get appointment!

“Hospitals already near capacity last fall could not keep pace as the winter flu season took hold.”

Gee, I wonder if inspiring mass hysteria over run of the mill respiratory viruses might have been a contributing factor?

the worse it gets, the more the british people will love it. it’s the national religion. quite bizarre. but it will never be shut down or anything other than continually deified.

But I thought all those third world invaders were doctors and nurses that would rebuild the Brittish economy. Are we being lied to?

I have personal experience with the NHS.

People in Great Britian could make it work for so long, because they have a different view of government, outcomes, and responsibilities than Americans. They are failing because the things that initially allowed it to function are no longer there, ie they are no longer actually British. They have absorbed so many people from other areas, the identity of themselves has been altered and the ‘stiff upper lip’ and ‘king and country’ is no longer the predominate concept.

Here, the forefathers said that the Republic and Constitution would only serve a moral and ethical society. Like the NHS, this type of socialism doesn’t function when people have no ‘king and country’ and no longer have a national sense of responsibility. Just like the British, as we the identity that made us raw individualistic and personally responsible fades to narcissistic spoiled individuals, we will fail as well. The NHS may just be a sign of a different generation and it’s long term concepts.

The health care system for most citizens in the United States is collapsing because:

1). 2-3 million illegals are added to the system each year most of who have “free” healthcare courtesy of the taxpayer.
2). Large hospital networks have acquired physician practices and have imposed standardized solution for all, 10 minute assembly line appointments.
3). Big Pharma has institutionalize expensive drug treatment for almost every ailment and condition even where exercise, natural remedies, or lifestyle changes would benefit the patient
4). Health insurance companies deny treatments to specific patients in order to reduce claims cost.
5). Significant redistribution of wealth schemes within the payment system including Medicare (IRMAA in Medicare, Obamacare subsidies). Government paid gender alteration surgeries and abortions. Big Pharma payments to hospitals, physicians, and healthcare government bureaucrats.
6). DEI programs reducing admissions and graduation standards for new physicians
7). Insurance companies and Medicare pushing people out of hospitals prematurely based on standard formulas.
8). Obscene pharmaceutical costs, highest in the world.

The US healthcare system has supports layers of unproductive administrators and bureaucrats who contribute nothing to the health of individual users of the system.

A few years ago one of the Canadian Healthcare Executive Directors needed some care/procedure(s). Did he wait months for an initial appointment with Canadian doctor, and then months more for the referral? Nope! He traveled to a magical world, where people smile, and there is no State Income Tax. He traveled to a State where they DID NOT put all the old people in Covid infested homes. He sought care in the free State of Florida!

For all the other Canadian citizens, well, maybe they will travel to England. /s
