AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - Elon Musk says prototypes are easy, production is hell. And when it comes to the long-awaited Cybertruck, Tesla's hell is its pioneering 4680 battery.
Tesla delivered the first of its futuristic stainless steel-plated electric pickups last month and CEO Musk said in October that it would probably hit an annual production rate of a quarter of a million vehicles at some point during 2025.

Advancements in battery technology generally cost an insane amount to advance a teeny bit.
This will be another interesting one for ai.
If ai is worth a hoot-a major advancement in battery technology could be sooner not later.
Battery improvements are measured in improved energy density, longer life, more safety, less environmental impact, and very importantly lower cost to produce. By these measures battery technology is improving at a much lower rate than pretty much any other technology one can think of.

Prototypes are easy, Production is hell. True words. Ramping up is tough.
I pulled the trigger on ordering a rooftop tent truck camper the other day. The manufacturer is a start up who is currently going through scaling up challenges. They are trying to scale up to making five units a day and are finding it a challenge.
As a result, they have moved back the delivery dates.
They are very transparent and it’s great to see a small American manufacturer succeed.
I’m guessing that they will get it figured out and underpromise and overdeliver and we’ll get our camper by early summer.
I've never bought a product in a situation like that, so I am not familiar with ground rules for that type of purchase.
I took a shot. It’s paid in full. They offer a full refund if I change my mind. Purchased on credit card so there’s some protection there too.
It was about $6500 so if it does blow up it’ll hurt but it’s not going to bankrupt me.
How good is it for going mudding?
I had to replace the wiper motor in my ‘78 Bronco about 40 years ago.
Is it just me, or do wiper blades not last as long as they used to?
