Bush was a nineteen year old who had to parachute into the Pacific from a burning plane, forced to leave behind a fellow crewman, spend six weeks on a submarine. A fast moving boat he could control may have been his way of coping with PTSD. He also made another parachute jump in his late seventies. More coping.
