Restraining orders only protect you from people who have no intention of hurting you; otherwise, a restraining order provides as much protection against someone who wants to physically hurt you as a mask does against any respiratory virus (my favorite example of delusion over reality ... although the men-believing-they’re-a-woman-because-they-announce-they’re-a-woman delusion caused by a serious mental illness is coming on fast.)

It’s a common occurrence that when the abuser becomes aware of a restraining order, that’s the trigger for him to go “next level”. That’s when people start dying. (I understand that all physical abusers aren’t men, but most are.)
