As a Polkian, a little background: “NW Lakeland” is a bit of a stretch here, the park is on the border of the metro area, though sometime in the next decade that border will move another ten miles or so out. It isn’t where you would expect such an incident to happen, and even if Yogi wouldn’t be surprised, the deceased is not the usual “teen” or “thug.”
Pray for the two in the hospital.
Personal aside: a few weeks ago PCSO came across the street from my home to arrest a felon with a half-loaded gun that someone had called in; six vehicles, a full diversity of deputies, and there was no incident. The last time we had such a hubbub was about ten years ago, someone raced down the street shooting into the air, I helped the deputies find some of the shell casings. PCSO deputies are the most professional and helpful I have ever known, but you don’t want to be their adversary.
