DENTON — A criminal investigation is unfolding in Denton after a 13-year-old girl is attacked on a school bus by adults.
The bus was leaving Bettye Myers Middle School last week when the 8th-grade girl says she was attacked by someone she says she didn't really know.
Earlier in the day, she'd heard rumors that the girl, new to the school, wanted to fight her.
"She said if I didn't keep her name out of my mouth, then she was going to beat me up," explained the student we'll call "Nicole" to protect her identity.
She says when she refused to get off the bus and fight, the girl hit her and she fought back to defend herself.
"I was scared," shares Nicole... her eyes filling with tears and her voice beginning to shake.
She says it was only when she heard the other girl yell "Mom" that she realized that an adult had joined the fray.
"I was wishing I had my Mama," she admits through tears, "because nobody helped me."
Not then, not earlier. Nicole says she told a school assistant principal and a counselor about the threats earlier in the day. She says she was later told that school officials spoke to the girl who attacked her, but it didn't seem to matter.
"And I guess one of the women came and put me in a choke hold on the bus," she shared.
Other students on the bus pulled out cellphones and recorded the horrifying attack... but there was more.
Nicole says after the two women got off the bus, they followed it to her stop and when she got off the bus she was attacked again. The cellphone video shows the 13-year-old on the ground, screaming.

FWIW, That's a fashionable phrase these days in the ghetto. One hears it a lot on black-focused TV programs.
Lots of bad actors here. High on the list are the school officials who took no real action.
I saw that many times in my years as a public high school teacher. Priority #1 with the administration was always public relations. Gotta make the school look good. So suppress any safety concerns. The well-being of staff and students was of no importance.
The only thing that can possibly change this culture is massive lawsuits. And even then it’s the innocent taxpayers who end up with the bill.
The lawsuits need to target the union funds. All the teachers in the system who dreamed of a nice pension and a comfortable retirement? They should all lose it because the Union pension fund is drained dry. Too bad you bastards didn’t do the right thing.

I’m no fan of teacher unions (I was an involuntary member of one for decades). They are corrupt and undemocratic. Oh, the stories I could tell you.
But a teacher union has very little to do with incidents such as the one in this article. It’s 98% on school administrators. They set up a permissive atmosphere where violence is winked at. Attack staff or a student, and get a warning. Do it again, and maybe get suspended for a couple of days. Big deal.
Students at my school called such suspensions “HBO weekends”. They got to stay home and watch TV while their friends had to go to school.
So what about the union? They get the remaining 2% of the blame for not putting up a fuss over the violence. They stay quiet because they too want the district to look good.
Oh, and one more thing. I was an urban school teacher. I tell prospective teachers NOT to apply to any urban school district. And I tell parents NOT to send their kids to any urban school district.
Those places are forever lost causes.

Put the attacker in juvenile detention, the adults prosecuted, get this kid in a school that isn’t run with a prison/ghetto hell hole culture.
And about culture… this culture is failed. Miserably. Do you want your kids to grow up like this? Sorry, but emulating more successful cultures is needed here.

Them wasn’t no adults. Them was ghettopotomi over the age of 18 showing that societal conventions mean nothing to them, and acting as if they could not think more than 3 seconds into the future.

There’s not much of a teacher’s union in Texas. Pensions here come from the state, not unions.

The victim is a sweet girl.
But, the school suspended her, even though she was the one attacked.
Yet, the girl has been praying for her attackers.
I hope her mother will check into local homeschool associations where her child may be much happier.
Many kids who are assaulted at school switch to homeschooling.
What they find in homeschool organizations are lots of friends and fun things to do together.
Many homeschool parents also are working parents. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Call the organizations, meet with them, see for yourself if they are a good fit for your child, and find out how to start your child on a new journey.

IIRC you cannot get someone’s pension or insurance in law suit, unless it’s a divorce settlement.
