I’m a busy guy, so when I read ‘air’ in conjunction with ‘rifle’ I scoffed.

Turns out that it’s true, with a muzzle velocity just over 1000fps and decent accuracy. I had no idea that there were rifled barrel air guns. The profoundly expensive ones I reviewed in shopping years ago were not rifled, iirc.

Legal silencers are made for the most powerful air guns.

A colleague from years-back was Jess Galan, who wrote frequent articles on them.

Pellet guns (soft lead projectile) are rifled. BB guns (hard round steel projectile) are smooth bore. Soft lead engages with the rifling, hard steel does not.
