After Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, stepped down last week, the runner-up — Miss Teen New York, Stephanie Skinner — told The Post that she doesn’t want the crown either.
“I ultimately came to the decision to decline it,” Skinner, 19 and from New Hartford, New York, said. “I didn’t feel like it was the right decision considering all the circumstances.”
Over the past week both Srivastava, 17, and Miss USA, 24-year-old Noelia Voigt, abdicated their titles, while Miss USA Organization social media manager Claudia Michelle also resigned from her post. Sources told The Post that the women had been “bullied” by the organization’s CEO, Laylah Rose. Skinner, a rising junior majoring in economics at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, said she didn’t feel she could accept the Miss Teen USA title after the scandals came to light — and is instead “standing in solidarity and standing up for female empowerment. My integrity and my character will always come before crowns.”

It is a lot of work for no pay.
Then why did she enter the damn contest?
I guess the endorsements aren’t what they used to be….
I doubt these contestants knew how far the organization had fallen. They thought it was a real pageant.
I would love to see an end to this shallow frivolous parading of women for votes..
So what’s the story?
“Then why did she enter the damn contest?”
“...because, uh, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa...”
So that’s what all the crying is about, when they win?
Read the article, she stood with miss Teen in solidarity against the management of the pageant.
The first runner up might still be mad that she wasn’t chosen as the best candidate in the first go round.
She doesn’t want somebody’s leftovers.
A clever girl may swallow her pride and grab that crown, if she thinks she has what it takes to carry on.
When else would a girl like her get such a break?
After reading the article, it sounds like the organization’s CEO, Laylah Rose, may be a bit of a control freak. But then I don’t know what these young ladies (the pageant winners) were posting, either.
I expect they didn't know that after winning the contest they were expected to be the face of the organization for a year until the next pageant.
My understanding is that K-Pop stars go through a lot more than this and do it for years in order to make it big.
Perhaps that is the case.
But the consensus is that Miss USA was silenced.
I’ll put it at 95% that I agree with her without knowing the material that caused the silencing.
Ofc if they put an end to all pageants, the same folks would be doing exactly the same thing and calling it something else.
I dunno.
I don't see a problem with that. You can't just post whatever you want on social media. Welcome to the real world.
I flew on Spirit Airlines before. It was fine. What did they expect? First class?
Might as well. We don't even have James Bond anymore. Our culture does not tolerate "sexism" anymore.
Let’s look at this for a few seconds.
They devote their lives to these pursuits.
I’m supposed to believe that she gave it all up because of having to fly Spirit Airline?
I'm really out of touch. I don't even know what K-Pop is. Never heard about it until now.
I hope it's just a control issue with the director, that the girls just want to have fun (and make money), and the pageant won't let them.
I suppose there are endorsements and opportunities out there that they can't do and still be Miss Teen USA.
I hope that's the reason. There are other, more sinister, possibilities though.
