Putin demotes Cold War warrior Patrushev and raises two younger allies
Reuters Moscow Bureau ^ | 5/14/2024 | Guy Faulconbridge and Andrew Osborn

Russian President Vladimir Putin demoted Nikolai Patrushev, a Cold War warrior who crafted the Kremlin's national security strategy, to a job overseeing the shipbuilding industry while raising two younger lieutenants to senior Kremlin jobs.

-snip-

Patrushev, a former KGB officer from St Petersburg where Putin was born, was moved from the heart of the modern-day politburo, where he had worked for 16 years as secretary of the Security Council, to oversee shipbuilding as a Kremlin aide.

-snip-

Patrushev Senior was heavily demoted," a senior Russian source told Reuters on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of such public remarks.

Although Putin, in good health, is embarking on a new six-year term and is expected to rule for years to come his reshuffles are closely scrutinised by Kremlin watchers to try to discern if he is lining up potential candidates to succeed him.

-snip-

Shipbuilding, though, is certainly a demotion for one of the Kremlin's most powerful Cold War stalwarts, a former spy who sees the United States as a declining driver of catastrophic revolution intent on destroying Russia.

Russia has a ship building industry?

Their navy is practically non-existent and their ships rarely leave port... So yup... This is more like a demotion to purgatory.

According to Guy Faulconbridge Mucus’ touted analyst: “Although Putin, in good health, is embarking on a new six-year term and is expected to rule for years to come”

Whatever came of all your “Putin dying-of-cancer” postings?

Funny how the Moscow bureau chief threw in the “Putin stronk” comment, isn’t it?

If you’re correct, it doesn’t matter. Russia has the missiles
to hurt other fleets badly. That includes the US Navy.

The reality is that Russia is not a maritime power and has never needed to be. Their big needs are missiles both offensive and SAM, and artillery. And Russia does not engage in foreign wars typically. We on the other hand are a maritime power by necessity because it’s the only way we can really engage with the world, and we’re pretty active in foreign wars.

Horses for courses. And the bottom line, though the idiots here cannot see it, Patrushev is far more of a hawk than Putin. Putin is trying to keep this from becoming a wider general war.

And I would expect that Patrushev probably really will work to rebuild the Russian Navy to some degree. But I wouldn’t think that would be a good plan until Ukraine gets neutralized and the British harpoon forces in Ukraine are eliminated.

You are absolutely right on all points.

The Putin Derangement Syndrome matches the TDS.

All things considered, thank God for Putin. He’s, as you say, doing what he can to prevent the Globalists, Military Industrial Complex, et al, from getting a whole lot of us killed.

I agree. The Russians have learned to set long-term strategies and are patient.

If Iran and China give them missiles, then they have them... If they don’t then Russia is screwed.

This is non-possible.

The Putin shook himself to death, and The Patrushev has been running the country for months.

We have that straight from the keyboard of The Marcus.
