Mothers, law-enforcement officers and veterans are among people included in a new $5 million statewide ad campaign aimed at boosting support for a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow recreational use of marijuana in Florida, supporters of the measure announced Tuesday.

Four ads will run on broadcast, cable, streaming, radio and digital platforms, according to the Smart & Safe Florida political committee, which has led efforts to pass what will appear as Amendment 3 on the November ballot. The ads say, in part, that regulated recreational marijuana is a better alternative to cannabis products sold on the black market.

Getting people to try, then get hooked, on recreational drugs is the best way to tear down resistance to every other vice.

Cartoons of Joe Camel were outlawed because they could appeal to kids; seeing Joe Camel could become a gateway to drugs.

Now, they tell us that recreational marijuana is not a gateway to anything.

It’ll pass. Abortion too. It’ll get enough stoners and lefties to the polls that it may notch Florida to the purple just the littlest bit.

We’ve had thousands of transplants from the NE and west in the last few years. I’m pretty sure that they’re going to go back to voting the way they always have, and Florida will eventually slip down the slide the way they did up north. It’s all cyclical.

If this passes, Florida will follow the other states who have passed these same laws. Incremental disaster will be on the horizon as I witnessed in Colorado.

I love the smell of pot in the morning. That skunk smell. It smells like . . like freedom.

Legalized pot didn’t slow down illegal pot in Oregon. But our roads became more dangerous.
