Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 were more likely to die than those hospitalized with influenza during the fall and winter of 2023-2024, according to an analysis of Veterans Affairs data.
Among over 11,000 patients hospitalized for either illness during this past fall and winter, 5.7% of patients with COVID-19 died within 30 days of admission versus 4.24% of patients with influenza, reported Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, of the VA St. Louis Health Care System, and colleagues.

After adjusting for variables, the risk of death in people hospitalized for COVID-19 was 35% higher (adjusted HR 1.35, 95% CI 1.10-1.66), the authors detailed in a research letter in JAMAopens in a new tab or window.
Al-Aly told MedPage Today that his group was actually surprised by the results. "We pretty much bought into the public narrative and drank the Kool-Aid like everybody, thinking that COVID is no longer [more deadly than the flu], although ... there was no data," he said. "But the verdict is out now, because we've analyzed the data from the 2023-2024 COVID season and clearly COVID mortality is still higher than the flu."

And leftist government is deadlier than both
Folks should check out the bio of the author and the doc named in the article.
Nuff said.
STILL false.
Yep
Assuming the data is correct, why is it so?
Are patients with COVID dying because of the virulence of the virus or because of the treatment protocols used to treat it?
Are the hospitals still refusing to use Ivermectin and HCQ?
Many Covid cases were the flu..just sayin’.
1%? What’s the error rate?
“Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 were more likely to die than those hospitalized with influenza during the fall and winter of 2023-2024, according to an analysis of Veterans Affairs data.”
Am I wrong in assuming the VA stuck to the government protocols for treating COVID which included overly aggressive (IMHO) early treatment of putting COVID patients on ventilator and refusal to allow alternate treatments? If so, perhaps that helps explain the gap in outcomes.
PS. The forced isolation of elderly, vulnerable patients often suffering from dementia was also a major factor in higher death rates.
99.95% survivable. Run for the hills! Vaccinate all yer chillin too as their chances of surviving are just a mere 0.0001%!
Hmmm.......
Had something like a “survivability” rate, most without medicine.
Folks could have it and not even know it.
Flu cases were in the millions prior to covid and then flu cases dropped to less than 2000 during covid and then miraculously went back into the millions.
People had swabs shoved up their noses by temp workers in a walmart parking and told they the deadliest virus on the planet. Deadlier than ebola, even.
I witnessed people on rid their bodies of covid using ivermectin.
So, basically comes down to the fact that the mandated medica protocols from Fauci, et al, murdered people.
And if someone wants to argue about the elderly being in a bad position/have no chance, there’s woman in Buffalo that was on life support, being left to die, family sued to get her ivermectin, hospital staff did its best to prevent ivermectin protocol, woman got it after court hearings, off life support and then walked out of the hospital. She wasn’t the only “elderly” helped by the ivermectin protocol.
Best to comment clearly to undo the wackos.
The virus killed a lot of people. They were old. Excess deaths for ages 0-45 did not show any increase over the average of 2016-2019. AND THEY STILL DON’T.
The excess deaths started to increase above 45, though still were low below 55-60. At 60, there are huge spikes in excess deaths 2020 onwards, aligned to season, which aligned to Covid attribution.
And no, the Excess Deaths were not misattributed because they are ALL CAUSES deaths. Death counts 60+ exploded starting March 2020. This was all causes data, but it aligned on the charts with death counts attributed to Covid.
There is no room for doubt. Deaths hugely increased, and they did so when Covid arrived.
And the final reality, Excess Deaths have fallen, though not to zero. There remains a small number of deaths ongoing in the (oddly) 65-85 population, but not for 85+. The very old are dying at the pre 2020 rate. Also part of this reality is, there are no Excess Deaths age 0-45. They are dying at the pre 2020 rate.
The virus killed people. The vax did not, and is not. If it was, it would show in EDs.
WuHan Flu is much deadlier than the flu when deaths due to the injections of depopulationg MRNA are considered.
