The best defense is an overwhelming...defense?

I, for one, am hoping for a good game. Both teams look like they can play some defense.

If the Super Bowl is the Ultimate Football Game, then why do they play it every year?

Prediction: this will be the greatest Super Bowl of all time! Why? Because I'm watching it this year on a 70" Sony HDTV - yeeeeeeehaaw!

Excellent. Captain RibMan's sports bar, "The Meat Market," will be showing the Super Bowl on a 92 inch projection HDTV. Life is good.

If you need confirmation that government has lost touch with the little people, look no further than the Super Bowl. Columbus Day, MLK Day -- National Holidays......Day after the Super Bowl, gotta go to work. It's just not right.

Let us know how that HDTV broadcast turns out. I might invest in that for next year. For now, I'm still happy with my 60" standard big screen that I've had for about 5 years now even though the picture isn't as sharp as the 32 inch Zenith up in the living room that I've had for 10 years now. I think this might be the year that I invest in some new video technology. Plasma is still out of my reach but those LCD sets look great.

HDTV provides a SIGNIFICANTLY better picture. Like the difference between a VHS tape and DVD.

How much programming is available? How much of it on Directv? Will this make Perry Mason come in clearer?

Most national sports broadcasts are HDTV-- especially from ABC, ESPN and CBS. I know cable companies have listings of HD channels and programs are designated as such. When you see an HDTV broadcast, it really grabs you. At our sports bar, we have areas where the HDTV is next to a regular broadcast tv-- same broadcasts side by side. It takes your breath away.

Real HDTV - 1080i, 780P and the ultimate 1080p - are stunning indeed, like you're looking through a window. But even these broadcasts are only as good as the source material. So Hogan's Heroes on HDTV looks like a really clear movie, but doesn't take your breath away. If the source is filmed using a HDTV camera and broadcast in the highest definition, you will know it. ESPN HD often shows regular definition programming - when it shows a game in HD, you can see the faces in the crowd clear as day.
