[history]
Any credit counselor will tell you that, if you have a debt problem, the first step is to stop digging the hole deeper. It's a lesson we hope voters apply to Proposition 55 in the March 2 election.
Prop. 55 would float $12.3 billion in bonds to upgrade and build new classrooms for K-12 schools and community colleges, the California State University and the University of California. Of the total, $10 billion would go to K-12 schools, $2.3 billion to higher education.

I'm inclined to vote that way myself but would appreciate some good pro and con arguments.

just check out the voter pamphlet or do it online.
bonds and initiatives are being used as band-aids here these days as the Rats continue to raid the coffers, it's like a like a bottomless bucket of bucks to some.. 'til now.

Unfortunately the teachers' unions have done a good job of selling the public on the misinformation that if only we taxpayers were not so cheap they would be turning out millions of Einsteins every year. Public education is a huge disgrace. When I was in public school we did not have teachers aides, we had 35 kids to a class and we learned well. Teachers were paid much less than they are today (the great hoax of the underpaid teacher, show me another job where you get the summer off). Productivity in education has defied the overall increases in every other workplace.

I live in a small town with about 50 kids in elementary school. Any given day there 17 or 18 cars in the parking lot. These kids aren't driving. Money is not the problem in our schools.

Money is not the problem in our schools. Student-teacher ratio in my kid's school is about 9 to 1.
You'll get no arguement from me.

Check my tagline too!
I posted McClintock's floor speeches about Prop 57 and Prop 58 on an earlier thread. They still are the best arguments against both Propositions.
There have also been several articles posted that explain that the state will not go bankrupt and that the campaign statements are somewhat exaggerated. Here is one of those articles: California: If voters reject bond, 'chaos' may not ensue .
