HELL HATH no fury like a Red Sox fan spurned. For the past week, loud moans and other exclamations of disgust can be heard whenever the news comes on. In some households, people are tossing pillows and sneakers at their new flat-screen TVs.

Don't feel bad, Red Sox fans. The Yankees haven't won a World Series since Hillary won the Senate.

Plus you've got the Patriots while NY has the sucky Jets/Giants heheheh

And the Yankees haven't won a World Series with a Republican as president since Eisenhower.

Peter Gammons, the ultimate baseball expert, writes this week for ESPN.com that "Boston felt it had to get money back from Rodgriguez, the Yankees did not."

This quote is a clear-cut example of how Gammons is either a shill for the Red Sox, or else absolutely not "the ultimate baseball expert."

Back in December, Boston realized that there were no other realistic buyers for Arod, and they were bidding against themselves. So they did the smart thing: They tried to nickel and dime the Rangers and save a few million on a $120mm contract. When the Yankees actually made the trade under their noses, the Red Sox tried to get back to the table and Texas told them they were too late. Sure, the Sox could have robbed Texas earlier by getting better players plus money. The Yankees got the trade done, in revenue-neutral fashion, by trading value for value.

Red Sox Nation is like a teenage boy who gets turned down by the girl of his dreams. Once rejected, lust turns to disgust, love turns to hate. The player Sox fans so coveted is now the enemy.

Exactly!

Good point! I'm tired of hearing the "Hillary curse" on this board -- the Yankees made it to two of three World Series in this time frame. Most teams' fans would be thrilled to have such an alleged "curse" against their teams.

Right. In any case, Guiliani is going to drive the stake through Clinton's heart in 06. Teddy Kennedy will still be the senior senator from Mass 20 years from now.

Every single NY Sports team has won multiple titles since 1918. The Yankees have won 26. What's your point?

We got A-Rod and you didn't. We didn't even want him that much, but we got him, because we know it just kills you! NEENER-NEENER!

As everyone in Boston knows, revenge is best served cold.

The revenge of the Red Sox is beyond cold, it's petrified. They'll never reach the level of success the Yankees have. The game won't last enough centuries for them to win 26 World Series. They need to concentrate on winning one before the centennial of the Bambino sale

Oh, and I forgot to add, if there's a "Hillary curse," apparently it has no effect on the Yankees when they are playing the Red Sox. Winning World Series' are great, don't get me wrong. I've had the opportunity to watch my Yankees win six, and I enjoyed each of them. But, for me, nothing can top the pleasure of seeing the heartbroken look of resignation on the faces of Red Sox fans after Boone hit his homer. If the Yanks can't win the Series, but can still break the hearts of Sox fans in dramaitc fashion, for me, that's almost as good.

-That and listening to the creative excuses they come up with, none of which manage to change the fact that they are once again and forever LOSERS.

The New York Jets only won one title.

May that thought somehow satisfy you as you watch the Yankees celebrate for the 27th time since the last time your baseball team won. Last time I checked, nobody up there was referring to NE as "Patriots Nation." Team loyalty up there runs in the following order: Sox, Bruins, Celtics, Patriots.

I think I jinxed the Yankees when I said on the night of the Boone homer that I didn't care if the Yankees won the World Series; beating the Red Sox was enough! ;)

I may have done the same, but I must say that I would be willing to trade no more championships for the Yankees in return for a guarantee that they could knock the Sox out every year. Last year was that special for me.
