Angelus.....any idea who these two guys are..
The main targets of operations here are resistance leaders Jalaluddin Haqqani and Saifullah Mansoor and their followers, who are believed to number between 2,000 and 2,500, spread all over the Khost, Paktia, Paktika and Gardez areas.

Nice of the media to confirm something we on FR have known about for a month or so....
Asia Times Online can confirm media reports in Pakistan that Pakistan has allowed the US to use some of its air bases for surveillance purposes, including Kohat and Bannu. Residents of North West Frontier Province are already witnessing flights of US "spy" planes over the region.

Just remember, "Bush isn't doing anything to get Bin Ladin!" You watch...five minutes after we bag OBL, the mantra will become "He's not that important! How could a guy in a cave do 9-11!?!"

The response of the resistance to the new offensive has been deliberately muted. Even suicide missions and random guerrilla attacks have been scaled back as the resistance lies low, possibly until a major spring offensive is launched. Or maybe they are getting their arses kicked.

This is Terror Central. Nothing escapes the watchful eyes here.
This is getting big there. But this week's gabfests will focus on Nader and gaymarriage.
To: swarthyguy; Dog
adding that several villages situated on the border had been evacuated Well, that's nice. Wonder how many terrorists got away via that route?

Kind of like the Tenet visit. . . .
On "Jalaluddin Haqqani" in the last day or so I've seen his name pop up. Some Taliban spokesman with the name of "Mohammed Saiful Adel" mentioned that JH was running the show for the Taliban along the border. I have noticed that Saiful Adel is very much like Saif al-Adel, but I can only imagine that it is a different person. Saif al-Adel is Egyptian, and this Saiful Adel seems to be Taliban, therefor probably ethnic Pashtun. Probably a case of "John Smith" commonality.

Don't forget the Albright Conspiracy Theory:
"Bush has had him all along and is doing this for re-election purposes!"
To: Coop
They probably stopped them and had them over for high tea .....before sending them along their merry way......:-)

I have a friend in the Pakistani Army, and I do believe that things in Pakistan have been very serious for some time now. Pakistan has a good and loyal army.

Not if the locals prefer different colored and styles of turban than the talibs.

With all the technology we have, I can't imagine we don't know where OBL is hiding. We WILL get him!
