[history]
The Supreme Court case over whether to keep a reference to God in the Pledge of Allegiance is the latest skirmish in the "culture wars" that are helping shape the presidential election, much to the delight of Republicans.
From homosexual "marriage" to the immensely popular film "The Passion of the Christ," cultural issues are emerging as an important subplot in a campaign dominated by national security and the economy.

The war of good vs. evil has begun in American politics. May good triumph over evil in November 2004!!

But some Democrats are worried that the culture wars will help the current President Bush. Kinda' puts the Dem's between a rock and a hard place doesn't it?
The dem's have been place into a d@mned if I do, d@mned if I don't situation with the election of Dubya' and I love the smell of squirming dem's in the morning!!

The Dems right now are trying to run a sneak attack on the traditional definition of marriage. They know gay marriage isn't popular so they're trying to get judges to do their dirty work but in the meantime they won't lift a finger to defend marriage. Witness Kerry's opposition to a constitutional amendment to protect marriage.

And if good doesn't win, I think I'll give up on politics and do something useful, like smuggle Bibles into mainland China.

Witness Kerry's opposition to a constitutional amendment to protect marriage. Prior to the primaries, Kerry was on a local Los Angeles area newstation stating "Everyone knows I'm against same-sex marriage." Yet, he is one of the 14 Senators who voted against Clinton's 'Defense of Marriage Act'

You know, it's strange you should mention that, I was going to start "burying" "Freedom Packages" consisting of Bibles, the U.S Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence.
Maybe a few hundred years down the road, people will know what they are really worth.

Can I help?

I wouldn't really call the death penalty or abortion "cultural" issues, but social issues. Cultural issues are stuff like "decency" and censorship.
Those can hurt the GOP more than they help. Few if any Dem-leaning voters will switch to the GOP over "decency" and there's a lot of GOP-leaning voters that will make the opposite switch.

:-)
Check back with me on Nov. 3rd. Even if W wins (which I think he'll do, comfortably), I may still work to smuggle Bibles into China.
