March 25, 2004 -- DEMOCRACY is, by far, the greatest system of government yet created by human genius. The problem is the elections.
In a routine presidential contest, the thundering emptiness of the rhetoric from both sides does little lasting harm. Our system is robust. Collectively, the American people are remarkably sensible.

The War on Terror is not a matter of choice. But they way it's fought seems to be.
The problem is the politicians, not the people.
Some politicians.
With all due respect to Mr. Peters, I can't agree that all of the politicians have been lying. I believe the Democrats clearly have a distinct edge in that department.

Absolutely true.
Sending the message to our enemy that we will file briefs, point fingers, sue, change government, all on the basis of whether some Mohammed puts a bomb on a bus or not is suicide - for America.
Liberals are the ENEMY WITHIN AMERICA.
Treat them as such, and America will move forward.

When someone is telling untruths about you, you have no choice but to respond. To blame both sides for "bickering" is being blind to the truth.

The hearing showed the world and the terrorist how the dems wrap themselves up in red tape and tie their own hands so they can use it as an excuse to do nothing. Of course they (terrorists) will want Kerry to win. I'm sure they will do what they can to help him.

Excellent post. While Rome is burning, Nero is fiddling! This commission is useless. However, while the politicians fiddle and bicker about who did what, it is the American people that are to blame for this comic, but tragic review! If the voice of the American people was risen to disband this commission right now, it would happen overnight. But, the American people will sit on their hands, listen to the BS from all sides, and while they remain in never/never land, Bin Laden and company successfully plot the destruction of American and the American people. When the next 911 comes, and it will come, you can bank on it, the American people will only have to look in the mirror to see who caused it. That is....if there is a mirror to look into!

The Islamic world's problems are not our fault, and we are not to blame for terrorism. We cannot force other cultures to be successful, nor can we avoid their jealousy.

The terrorists are drawing the - incorrect - lesson that a Democratic victory this November would allow them to regain the global initiative. Although every new administration inevitably makes some mistakes, a Kerry presidency would have to face up to the need to combat terrorism as vigorously as the Bush administration has done. The man in the Oval Office doesn't get a choice on this one.Mr. Peter's conclusion is not born out by the statements of the Democratic Party. They have declared an intent to end this war and handle terrorism as a "legal matter." This is what Clinton did and what Kerry has stated he will do. May God protect us if Kerry is elected, because the democrats will not. Apparently Mr. Peter's logical mind cannot see the illogical.
