Schwarzenegger Proposes Raising State Spending ...Largest Budget in State History
KMJ TV | 05-13-2004 | KMJ Staff Report

Posted on 05/13/2004 6:22:52 PM PDT by Amerigomag

Governor Schwarzenegger today, in spite of state wide and Wall Street calls to cut state spending, introduced his revised 2004-2005 state budget proposal, the largest budget in the state's history at $103B

That's up $5B from his predessors largest budget and in the opposite direction from Schwarzenegger campaign perception that state spending would be brought under control. The proposed budget also presents the largest deficit budget in the state's history

Schwarzenegger offered that this budget proposal would not require increases in taxes but failed to acknowledge that it depends heavily upon the $15B he recently borrowed and that state fees of all types have been substantially raised to meet the demands of the new, larger budget.

Doesn't seem to matter who is in office. The spending continues to rise unabaited.

Since Arnold is pro-abortion and pro-homosexual rights, there is very little he has to offer other than cutting spending. If this news article is correct, then it would seem that the RINOs have done it again.

The only difference between Arnold and Gray Davis is the party and not the political ideology.

Too bad Gray Davis is not still in power, if he were President Bush could go to CA and campaign against the out of hand spending by a Democratic Governor and could perhaps win the State. Now California is a lock for Kerry

Would the bond proposal have been approved by the citizens if it had been revealed at that time that spending would be increased using the bond money?

The GOP Screwed up BIG TIME by booting Davis out of Office. He would have been a great target for Bush to Kick Around in 2004.

But...but...Arnold's a Republican! When you're a Republican (ta-da-da-DA!) spending magically declines, everyone can own a gun, and taxes become non-existant.

I'm not surprised... but still outraged.

Increase in Spending
$15 Billion in Bondage
Cities/Counties increasing local taxes
Supporting Conservancies (New HUGE levies to come)
etc.
etc.
etc.

If this is "cleaning house", Arnold must live in a pig sty.

You FReepers have to remember that Arnold's budget has a lot of one-time spending hikes and pay-offs to municipalities in exchange for long-term, permanent cuts.

But I guess it's better to go off into hysterics. For a minute I thought I was on a Bizarro FR thread.

the largest budget in the state's history at $103B

This is a staggering amount of money for a state. WTF are they doing with all that money?

I disagree.

The GOP screwed up by interfering in a true grassroots effort to impose their choice for Governor (Arnold), a Liberal, uneducated, inexperienced amateur. His ability to control the media is impressive. His other traits are going to ruin this state.

Sorry, but I'd rather see a hard article and link to the actual budget instead of a 10-second soundbite from a CA news channel before I give my prestigious commentary.

Sure, but anyone with a clue would have known that the yo-yo's in CA would vote for a Liberal like Arnold. The solution was to leave Davis there and let the National GOP kick him like a dog in 2004 and make California a Red State.

GOP did to McClintock the same thing to Toomey by killing the grassroots, while the party hacks and Rat crossovers supported the RINO.

Don't know where your getting your information but you've got it backward.

The governor has convinced local governments to take larger hits this year and has promised the "paybacks" in future years. The diversion of property taxes away from local governments this year is the largest percentage in state history.

And just remember...licenses por Los Inmigrantes are next, followed closely by new taxes to pay for all the fun...

But he's an R, so it's all cool, right?

But he's an R, so it's all cool, right?

Same can be said about Bush's 600 bil. Medicare Bill and 30 Bil. Education Bill. As long as it is signed into Law by an R 'it's all cool'.
