Talkradio presents Rally for America 2 at noon Memorial Day, Mon., May 31, at Jones Plaza, Downtown.
This non-political gathering will celebrate freedom and honor Americans in uniform. Join Glenn Beck, Pat Gray and Chris Baker as they host this special event featuring patriotic music, special guest speakers and more.
Anyone going?
Downtown where? Detroit? Baghdad? Bump from Richmond VA
It's in Houston. A little far for you to drive, I'd guess.
I turned on Glenn Beck this morning at the suggestion of a poster here at FR. Listening to him on 55WKRC in Ohio.
What I got was seven Moveon.org commercials demanding Rumsfield resign.
No thanks.
Don't think Beck can dictate who the radio stations sell advertising to.
But, IMHO, what better audience for the MoveOn folks to waste their money on than a conservative one.
I've heard a few on our local station during Rush's program.
"Don't think Beck can dictate who the radio stations sell advertising to. "
I know, and to Beck's credit he used that commercial in his show, demonstrating just how completely and totally misleading it was...when it wasn't flat out lying.
I'm not a big fan of Beck, more due to his style than content. He tends to whine a bit too much for my taste.
Just had to vent after listening to that commercial over and over and over at the top of each commercial break.
Sounds like you missed the show completely.
No, I'm at work however. Becks commentary sort of blends into my "background noise" the same way Limbaugh's doing right now arguing with some guy about Monday Morning QB'ing the war in Iraq.
The moveon.org ads stand out, as intended I suppose. The first two times, I laughed out loud at the expressed lunacy. The last five times it was just plain irritating. Between the 1st and 2nd runnings of the commercial, Beck took it apart soundbite by soundbite, which I did appreciate.
Most of us would have trouble coming up with a fresh entertaining 3-hour show every day. Glenn tries and does better than average. His show comes on at 5 AM, so maybe I am not in the best condition to judge if it is of sufficiently high quality every day. I am lucky if I remember to let the dog out and feed the goldfish rather than feed the dog and let the goldfish out at that time of the day.
You know who is great first thing in the morning is Bill Bennett. His nice, relaxed, informed personality provides an excellent wakeup call in the AM
" I am lucky if I remember to let the dog out and feed the goldfish rather than feed the dog and let the goldfish out at that time of the day."
ROTFL! Right now, I'm dealing with a golden retreiver that thinks the Koi in the ornamental pond outside the front door are his "friends" that he must join for a morning swim!
(I did a radio talk show for six months back in 1996. I'm familiar with just how hard it is to fill a one hour time slot, let alone a three hour one every day)
The Houston Freepers will be there.
Ron H. started a thread on this event a few days ago.
Look for our banner (last picture on post #25 of this thread). Also look for a lou-mouthed Yankee with a bull-horn (that will be me).
