Proposal to Have U.N. Monitor Elections Ends in Partisan Clash
By Dan Morgan
House Republicans view a recent move by 11 Democrats to have United Nations observers monitor U.S. elections as a politically motivated stunt, and last week they moved to nip the idea in the bud.
But after an unusually rancorous skirmish that brought proceedings on the House floor to a standstill late Thursday, the issue may have received more publicity than even Democrats hoped for.
It pitted Rep. Steve Buyer (R-Ind.), author of an amendment to the 2005 foreign aid bill aimed at blocking U.N. involvement in U.S. elections, against Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.), who had harsh words for Buyer.
...
"I come from Florida where you and others participated in what I call the United States coup d'état," she said. "We need to make sure that it does not happen again. Over and over again, after the election, when you stole the election, you came back here and said get over it."
An irate Buyer then halted the debate and demanded that Brown's words be "taken down," a step that can lead to a formal House reprimand.
After a 20-minute conference with the House parliamentarian, Acting Speaker Doug Ose (R-Calif.) issued a ruling: "Members should not accuse other members of committing a crime, such as stealing an election. By accusing an identifiable member of stealing an election, the gentlewoman's words are not in order."

Let your friends and family know just how little the Democratic Party respects our 200+ years of democratic tradition. Ask them whether they would feel comfortable with China, Russia, and France having the final say in our elections. Ask them whether they trust someone who thinks we should.
Seriously, this push shows a serious lack of leadership with House Dems. Staple the U.N. issue to the forehead of every Democrat around, we can force them to publicly break ranks or sign on to this insane idea. If you can keep up the publicity on this, people will start to see just the sort of people the Democrats are putting into leadership positions.
What i want is for the Cash and Kerry campaign to take a firm stance on this issue in public. They havent commented on this issue because they're afraid to do so, but it doesn't stop them from making snide comments about a stolen election in 2000.
lets put it to rest.
OTOH, if Kofi Annan does anything more about this request than forget it, he's not the survivor I thought he was.
Ping.
The vote on whether Brown was out of line was a party-line vote? The whole Democratic party has gone nutty.
This sure isn't my grandpa's party anymore!
Remind them as well, that having the United States relinquish sovereignty to the United Nations has long been the goal of every good American socialist/communist and is so stated in their goals.
That said, I am disgusted that George Bush and the Repubs allowed this fiction to have as much life as it does.
By any history, they know the Demrat's lying mo of creating their self-serving historical fiction. They were reminded and warned as well.
It does not sound like, that even here; besides demanding that the the 'gentlelady's Florida re-write be struck down; that a voice reiterating the absolute 'truth' of Florida spoke out - for the record.
That polite reference to a member of the House, is not an appropriate accolade for members like Corrine Brown - Floridians have a problem with these less than qualified people they elect just because of the color of their skin, they are angry, ill prepared activists who dont serve their states nor their country with any knowledge or grace...Corrine Brown is a throw back to the plantation mentality; she doesnt realize she is a free person and has been for many years, she enjoys her angry revolution, it is sorta like throwing a tantrum, she gets attention.
No one stole the election Corrine it was a slam dunk for George Bush until the heist didnt work and prescheduled lawyers jumped in and started one of the most criminal assaults on our constitution in history, both state and U.S. Constitutions. I doubt Ms. Brown can read well enough to research the facts....................

I want someone formally repremanded for this. I want to see someone thrown out of the House for this kind of over the line talk. It's one thing to have the nutburgers of the left saying these things, but to actually have people who are US Representative mouthing this crap is far, far over the line. Someone needs to lose their seat.
Considering that the representatives in question issued the appeal to the UN without either authorization or approval from the WH, they should be charged with sedition and malfeasance and tossed out of the House on their sorry, leftist butts.
"Someone needs to lose their seat."Perhaps. If she does, it will be through the same democratic process these Dems are trying to impugne. Ms. Brown and those like her are loathe to allow the people their say, and we should all do our best to make sure people know just how they feel.
This is so predictably in keeping with the Democratic philosophy; never accept responsibility for anything, such as your candidate and your platform losing, but rather blame the opponent and the system as being somehow unfair. Tis a poor workman who blames his tools...and the Democrats are the worst.
