HILLARY OUTSELLS BILL IN CLINTON BOOK RACE
Wed Aug 18 2004 11:42:59 ET

Hillary Clinton's book will stand as the sales champ over her husband's MY LIFE, sales figures show. With Bill Clinton's book scanning just 28,444 copies last week -- for a total of 1,001,262 since its release, according to NIELSEN -- Hillary's record appears safe.

The former first lady's LIVING HISTORY sold 1,121,340 during the same number of weeks in release, data shows.

[NIELSN BOOKSCAN tracks sales from approximately 4,500 retailers across the country and is generally considered to capture about 70-80% of total sales of all books sold in USA. The number represents scanned, purchased, sold and bagged copies at AMAZON, BARNES AND NOBLE, BORDER'S, COSTCO and other outlets.]

Meanwhile, Retired Army general Tommy Franks appears to have soft support with his book AMERICAN SOLDIER. Figures released Wednesday morning show Franks selling little more than 107,000 copies in his first two weeks.

[Franks scanned just 42,644 in his second week, after receving a cash advance of millions from his publisher HARPERCOLLINS/REGANBOOKS].

Nice site.

It would be good to find out what percentage of the sales went to organizations (such as the DNC or even 527s) and how many went to companies or law firms.

You know, I have been thinking. There's no way to lose in going after her on this.

If she genuinely "earned" these sales, then when will she repay the US taxpayers for the personal swimming pool that was built in her first privately funded (well almost) home? If not, did she declare it as income and pay taxes on it (and penalties if she didn't)? Also did they pay taxes on receiving the house as a gift?

Did she send financial help from her pocket to the personnel and Simon and Schuster who lost their jobs after the first week that her book was on sale?

Who cares? Yawn. Anyone who would spend money to buy a book from those two lying creeps has issues that require therapy.

Folks, I hate to pat myself on the back, but if you go back and read my past posts dated the week the Bill Clinton book came out, I told you that at the end of the day Bill Clinton would be outsold by his wife, Hillary. I also said the "Summer of Bill Clinton" turned out to be the "Week of Bill Clinton". And the same pundits, Charlie Cook, etc. that are telling you that Kerry will be elected were telling us that Clinton would consume the entire summer into the fall. Once again: GW Bush=57%, John Kerry=40%, Ralph Nader=3%. Bank on it! One last one. If we keep the pressure on the sales of "Unfit For Service" we can beat both Bill & Hillary Clinton. Please get all your relatives, friends. kindred spirits, etc. to buy "Unfit For Command" today!

Who cares?

First, the evil duo are not going away.

Second, there are idiots out there who are buying the books.

Understand the enemy.

Personally, I wish I'd never heard the name Clinton. Ditto that for Kerry.

LOL! I thought that we would find the documents in the trunk of someone's car a week after the subpoena expired. :)

LOL! Unfit for Command may not outsell the Clintons, but it'll be the Fall of SwiftVets leading to the fall of Kerry.

All I care about is the Swiftboat Vet selling way more of his book then the clintons. I gotta get my copy to help him along.

Yes, let's knock Clinton off the best-seller list. I'm getting my copy of Unfit for Command.

Now the question is: Did the publisher's lose their shirts on a volume of about $1.1 million after giving Slick a $10 million advance? I'm afraid I don't know enough about profit margins in the book industry to make a guess.

I lived under them as my president and first lady for eight years. I think I got a more honest understanding of who they are and how they operate from that than from anything I'm likely to read in either book.

I'd heard that the publisher needs to sell 2 million copies to break even. This may be the case, especially considering the length of the book.

If the sales are 2 million, and Bill got an advance of $10 million, he gets $5 per book. Average royalty is $.78 per book. Since few books are being sold at list and I've seen one FReeper mention that they saw the book on sale for under $9, not looking good. Towers of inventory going unsold.

I got Hillary's book out of the library (won't spend a dime on it) and I've read a bit. She portrays herself as a saint.

I find it more interesting to study the people around the Clintons than Hill and Bill themselves.

Actually, I do recommend Unlimited Access by Gary Aldrich and Dereliction of Duty by Buzz Patterson.

What's with Clinton and Kerry who both want to be the second coming of Kennedy?
