Widespread allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse of Congolese women, boys and girls have been made against U.N. personnel who were sent to help and protect them — despite a so-called zero tolerance policy touted by the United Nations toward such behavior. The range of sexual abuse includes reported rapes of young Congolese girls by U.N. troops; an Internet pedophile ring run from Congo by Didier Bourguet, a senior U.N. official from France; a colonel from South Africa accused of molesting his teenage male translators; and estimates of hundreds of underage girls having babies fathered by U.N. soldiers who have been able to simply leave their children and their crimes behind.

It is time to accept the Kofi is nothing more than a place holder in a position that is waiting for a true leader.

The U.S. needs to tell the U.N. the either Anan goes, or the U.N. goes.

Or, we all agree to part company and the U.N. can find another place to live. Like maybe Davos Switzerland.

Imagine the world liberal media's outrage if the American government was involved in such hideous crimes. But because it's the UN, nary a peep about it from the folks who are still screaming "torture" about Gitmo and Abu Ghraib.

What would such a leader do? No, the UN itself is a defunct organization that is hopelessly corrupt and well beyond reform. The UN must be replaced by an organization that allows membership only to representative governments and countries not named France.
