John 8:31b-32

"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Heavenly Father,

Of all the gifts which You have bestowed upon us, one of the greatest is freedom. First and foremost is the freedom from the consequences of our sin, the price having been paid by Your precious Son through His sacrifice so that we might have eternal life rather than the death that we deserve because of our sinfulness. But You have also given all mankind a yearning of the spirit to be truly free regardless of the bonds or boundaries that surround us. We have watched with jubilation as millions of people have been enabled to enjoy this liberty in the last couple of years and we have rejoiced as they have excercised their new status in free elections. We pray that other peoples around the globe may soon be able to shake the fetters of dictatorships and experience the joys of freedom. And we pray that more and more people throughout the world may come to know the Truth of the Gospel and have the liberty to accept Your Son as their Savior.

Lord, we are grateful for a President who believes deeply in the spread of freedom to all people and who has the vision to act to make this become a reality. Because he abides in Your word, he has the wisdom and the courage to speak of these things in contexts where the world has said it could not be accomplished. Thank You for bringing such a leader to this time in history. Continue to bless George W. Bush and to lead him down the path of righteousness. We thank You for the safe journey so far by him and those who accompany him and ask You to watch over them for the remainder of their trip.

Father, we are grateful, too, for those in our military and the troops of our allies who have risked so much to bring liberty to parts of the world that have never known it. Many have been wounded, in body or in spirit, and we ask that You be a soothing Balm that brings healing. Others have given their lives in a noble cause and we ask You to comfort their families and bring them peace.

We pray for the Pope in his time of illness. Lord, he has been a good and faithful servant, proclaiming Your word and standing up for Your commandments. We are grateful for his life and his witness and ask that You bless him and those who attend him in this latest health crisis.

Father, as we look around us, we realize that much of what is wrong in our nation is because of lies and deception. There are lies that greed and power and lust will bring pleasure; but these things are empty and cannot bring the peace that passes understanding. There are lies that licentiousness is all right and that abortion is acceptable; but these things lead to more pain and suffering and to the destruction of our society. There are lies that some lives are expendable and that some men have the power to make those choices; but You are our Creator, the Giver of Life; and it is for You to say when it is time for someone's life comes to an end. Bind the hands of satan, the father of lies, that his deceptions might no longer be heard and believed by those who have not yet known the Truth. Let Your Word be heard by all and let Your Holy Spirit open the hearts of our citizens so that they recognize the Truth and are set free from the bondage of sin. In the Name of our Savior, Jesus, the Christ. Amen.

Joining all in Prayer this evening...as freedom takes roots in more and more places it seems as if some on the left end of the spectrum are getting themselves in a "tizzy".

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!
GRACE,MERCY AND INFINITE BLESSINGS TO ALL BRETHREN!

My dear Lord,

I can but tell thee that thou knowest

I long for nothing but thyself,

nothing but holiness,

nothing but union with thy will.

Thou hast given me these desires,

and thou alone canst give me the thing desired.

My soul longs for communion with thee,

for mortification of indwelling corruption,

especially spiritual pride.

How precious it is

to have a tender sense and clear apprehension

of the mystery of godliness,

of true holiness!

What a blessedness to be like thee

as much as it is possible for a creature

to be like its Creator!

Lord, give me more of thy likeness;

Enlarge my soul to contain fullness of holiness;

Engage me to live more for thee.

Help me to be less pleased with my spiritual

experiences,

and when I feel at ease after sweet communings,

teach me it is far too little I know and do.

Blessed Lord,

let me climb up near to thee,

and love, and long, and plead, and wrestle

with thee,

and pant for deliverance from the body of sin,

for my heart is wandering and lifeless,

and my soul mourns to think it should ever

lose sight of its Beloved.

Wrap my life in divine love,

and keep me ever desiring thee,

always humble and resigned to thy will,

more fixed on thyself,

that I may be more fitted for doing

and suffering.

A PURITANS PRAYER!

"The wrath to come."
- Matthew 3:7

It is pleasant to pass over a country after a storm has spent itself; to
smell the freshness of the herbs after the rain has passed away, and to
note the drops while they glisten like purest diamonds in the sunlight.
That is the position of a Christian. He is going through a land where the
storm has spent itself upon his Saviour's head, and if there be a few
drops of sorrow falling, they distil from clouds of mercy, and Jesus
cheers him by the assurance that they are not for his destruction. But how
terrible is it to witness the approach of a tempest: to note the
forewarnings of the storm; to mark the birds of heaven as they droop their
wings; to see the cattle as they lay their heads low in terror; to discern
the face of the sky as it groweth black, and look to the sun which shineth
not, and the heavens which are angry and frowning! How terrible to await
the dread advance of a hurricane-such as occurs, sometimes, in the
tropics-to wait in terrible apprehension till the wind shall rush forth in
fury, tearing up trees from their roots, forcing rocks from their
pedestals, and hurling down all the dwelling-places of man! And yet,
sinner, this is your present position. No hot drops have as yet fallen,
but a shower of fire is coming. No terrible winds howl around you, but
God's tempest is gathering its dread artillery.
As yet the water-floods are dammed up by mercy, but the flood-gates shall
soon be opened: the thunderbolts of God are yet in his storehouse, but lo!
the tempest hastens, and how awful shall that moment be when God, robed in
vengeance, shall march forth in fury! Where, where, where, O sinner, wilt
thou hide thy head, or whither wilt thou flee? O that the hand of mercy
may now lead you to Christ! He is freely set before you in the gospel: his
riven side is the rock of shelter.
Thou knowest thy need of him; believe in him, cast thyself upon him, and
then the fury shall be overpast for ever.

C.H.SPURGEON

"May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified, loved and preserved throughout the world now and forever Amen."

We humbly pray, dear Jesus, for continued good health for Pope John II. With other great leaders he has brought about the downfall of Communism. Many are now free to pursue their lives as befit them.....We pray for our President that his tour was without incident. May hearts be changed and a common goal of all be pursued. In Jesus' name we pray
