While I agree with what the thrust of this article - the role of Black Confederates (I am assuming the article was refering to soldiers) is overstated. Yes, there were Blacks, both free and slave that fought in the Confederate armies but they were a minority of a minority. Southern Blacks overall - free and slave - supported the Union efforts.

That statement would be true if the War was only about slavery. However since it was fought over the right of secession, I find your statement to be more Yankee propaganda. You forget that only 10 percent of Southerners owned slaves. So why did many non-slave holding Southerners fight for the Confederacy, if it were only about slavery as you are alluding to.
