. . . the sense there grew that this religious and political drama was rapidly coming to a grim conclusion.

GRIM??? Why, I thought this was the happiest possible outcome! Isn't that what this paper and its zillion clones in print and TV-land have been telling us???

PEOPLE v. ARCHERD (1970) 3 C3d 615

"...The lapse of time between the various offenses and the indictment of defendant on July 27, 1967, is considerable but is adequately explained by the record. The murder weapon in each case was unique, insulin. The deaths of each of these victims were initially attributed to causes other than a criminal agency. Suspicion of insulin and of defendant as the person administering the insulin was not aroused until the death of Zella in 1956. It was not until years later, after much painstaking and persistent investigation by law enforcement officers, and the discovery of advances made in {Page 3 Cal.3d 621} medical knowledge and techniques, that sufficient evidence could be accumulated to charge defendant with these deaths. Unfortunately, by then other of defendant's victims had lost their lives. This is the only known reported case of murder by insulin poisoning in the United States. Only one other, reported world-wide, occurred in England in 1956. ..."

"...Dr. Grace Fern Thomas, a psychiatrist and an expert in insulin shock therapy, and director of the insulin shock department at the time defendant was at Camarillo, testified as to the procedures on the ward. A precise dosage of insulin was measured for each person at a particular time. At a specific level that patient would go into shock in approximately two hours after the injection. Patients do not progress at the same level. Careful watch must be kept of the pulse, color, blood pressure, general condition, and neurological signs, such as pupillary changes and body motions. When a patient is going into progressive stages of coma he sweats very profusely and breathes very heavily. Saliva is secreted in large amounts, mucous flows freely and mixes with the saliva, and the patient must be carefully watched, turned, or assisted so that he does not aspirate the fluid into his lungs. Otherwise bronchopneumonia may develop, leading to death. The gag reflex and the cornea reflex are lost. Convulsions may occur, and medication is given to prevent this. The extremities may stiffen. At a relatively deep level of coma the Babinski test (scatching the sole of the foot in a certain manner) will cause a reflex known as the Babinski response (toes fan out). The patient must be brought out of the coma within 10-15 minutes thereafter. This is done by administering glucose through gastric tubes, and if this is not effective, glucose is administered intravenously to raise the blood sugar.

If the brain is deprived of blood sugar for a prolonged period irreversible brain damage and death may result.

As soon as a patient is fed glucose he awakens and is hungry. Only regular insulin was used in the ward because it was the only insulin where the time of coma could be calculated for therapeutic use. Injections began with small doses, very gradually increased over a three-week period..."

Times photo -- Lance Rothstein] Early Friday morning Bob Schindler (right), father of Terri Schiavo, talks to Amanda Withey, 14, who was brought to Woodside Hospice by her adoptive parents Paul and Jennifer Withey. According to her parents, Amanda suffers from a traumatic brain injury. The family traveled here from Natchitoches, La., to show their support for the Schindlers

"Terri is weakening and she's down to her last hours"

"GRIM??? Why, I thought this was the happiest possible outcome! Isn't that what this paper and its zillion clones in print and TV-land have been telling us???"

What do parents tell their children about why Terri is dying?
What do the children think, when they hear that lawyers, judges, govenors, and the president are "starving a woman to death?"
And no adults help her...

Maybe the President can sign a Presidential Pardon for Terri being alive?

"It's good, it's good, my son is going to be a man," said Scott Helbreth of Charlotte, N.C., as he watched his 10-year-old son, Joshua, take his place in line carrying a cup of water. Mr. Helbreth said Joshua had read about Ms. Schiavo and asked his father to drive him to Florida. "I am so proud of him," Mr. Helbreth said. "Only in America do we have children like this." Well done Scott! I hope he'll be going into law. Way to go Scott!

Just maybe if Terri lives until Latin Easter, something like this could happen: beginning with the end of midnight masses, all the Roman Catholic and traditionalist Anglican faithful in Pennelas Park and environs could converge on the hospice with cups of ice chips, followed at sunrise by all the protestants who had just celebrate their Eastern sunrise service, followed late morning by the Orthodox fresh from the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil for St. Gregory Palamas Sunday, and the Western Christians who celebrated the Resurrection at their usual service time.

Each wave could put at the front all the people for whom a conviction for contempt of court, trespass and resisting arrest would (under the circumstances) have no consequences in terms of loss of jobs--the clergy, retirees (who might be considered as defending their own interests in not being 'euthanized'--a twisted use of the Greek 'eu' meaning good when applied to death by stravation and dehydration), people self-employed, . . .

They could come silently, then burst into hymns as the pressed against the police-line.

Surely the Christians of Florida out-number the police willing to enforce the judicial tyrant's order. (And even if he isn't active enough on Terri's behalf, Jeb won't send out the National Guard.)

George Felos, Mr. Schiavo's lawyer, called the motion "outrageous" and "an abuse of the legal system..."

Oh yeah, baby, pour on the coals Mr. Hotshot Lawyer man - you gonna fry like a chitlin in a hot skillet when they pass out the report cards. Nobody gonna bring you water either. Good thing your mouth is full of oily words 'cause you gonna need every bite.

This two-legged pile of dog sh*t is a poster boy for why the legal system needs to be gutted and reformed.

Someone need to risk it all to help this woman. No one in the Judicial, Executive, or Legislative system wants to risk their comfy life for this woman.

It is amazing to me that judges can make bad rulings and pronouncements on the behalf of convicted murders but no one has the guts to make a "bad" ruling in favor of Terri.

"No one, not even the government, should be allowed to interfere in the decisions between a husband and wife."

Does that include her decision to divorce him? Maybe she finally got up the nerve to tell him the night she "collapsed."

sign, pointedly directed at Mr. Schiavo, "Divorce is an option, murder is not,"

He obviously takes "'til death do us part" very seriously.

So seriously, in fact, that for him death (of his spouse) is the only option.

We humans don't live to be a thousand years, so what's the big deal about letting Terri Schiavo live and be cared for by her family for a few more years? It's Terri's existence, her life itself and not its quality, that her family wants to cherish. We don't have the privelege of a long life-span in this universe compared to a redwood tree (thousands of years) or a star (millions of years)...we should be grateful for every minute of our lives. Live life to the fullest. Why terminate it, for God's sake, we only live once.

Criminal...

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies, and Pinellas
Park, Fla., police officers arrest 10-year-old Joshua
Heldreth, of Charlotte, N.C., for trespassing on
Woodside Hospice property in Pinellas park, Fla.
Heldreth was attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a
glass of water. Schiavo's feeding tube was removed
by court order Friday, March 18, 2005.

"Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give
You drink?..." And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly,
I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My
brethren, you did it to Me."
Jesus, from St. Matthew 25:37-40

What I especially love about this is how the 10 year old is brainwashed by his parents into doing something that he can't even understand.

The damage at this point may be irreversible. I fear all we can do at this point is pray for Terri's soul, and say with all our might, that she will not be forgotten, and what happened to her will happen to no one else.

Regards, Ivan
