Terror: The Hunt for Zarqawi's Webmasters
Newsweek ^ | April 4, 2005 issue | Mark Hosenball

Posted on 03/27/2005 3:52:41 PM PST by FairOpinion

During the past year, investigators in America and Europe watched as a business called 357Hosting, based near Utrecht, the Netherlands, became the officially registered Internet host for several notorious militant Islamic Web pages and bulletin boards, including sites that disseminated videos of beheadings of foreign hostages in Iraq and messages from Qaeda leader Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi. The public prosecutor's office in Utrecht tells NEWSWEEK that it has opened a criminal investigation into possible Internet hate crimes.

One site hosted by 357, Albasrah.net, today features what purport to be daily news bulletins from Iraqi terrorists; other sites 357 has hosted include Hamasonline.com and Shareeah.org, a site promoting the wisdom of Abu Hamza, a notorious London imam who now awaits trial in Britain on terror-related charges. Both Dutch and U.S. investigators say 357 also hosted sites that were among the first to distribute Iraqi beheading videos.

If the internet can be used by them to host messages, it can be used to track down the source. Keep posting, terrorists.

There are still many who think that a computer is that which appears on the screen.

If you're REALLY savy, you know how to clear cache and erase browsing history.

Run a script, and you're some kinda hacking guru...

Thanks for seeing the chain of numbers in sequence beyond what was written, you made me see it, when I wouldn't have otherwise just in reading the article.

One approach (and an obvious one) is to require DNS servers to purge the domain names of terrorist / hate crime websites. I'm sure that will get some dander up...

Belated thanks for noticing - I'm usually not very good at math! ;-) Actually I was hoping some FReeper would chime in with some kind of confirmation of my "theory" but for whatever reason this thread drew little interest - oh well ...

Was surprised too that others didn't "chime in" as you said.

In a nation of "conspiracy theory thinkers", it seems that things, notings like yours, that perhaps belie some sort of sense of code or secret communication, go over like a lead balloons. I wonder if even any Homeland Security agencies had noted this article or posting like yours, on their own.

Found similar note (code effect) in an article posted about Iranian Imans (right word (?)) ranting in articles the the web, on certain dates about an attack on the devil America. I was so alarmed by the combinations that added up to a series of numbers equalling dates, first beginning with 9 11, that I sent the article to the FBI,and the White House. I posted the article and the email to the FBI on a forum so that it would be in writing in case something did happen on the final date. All I got back in comments were a few jokes about my having too much time on my hands. It was an eye opener since it appears most of the country, think that even the Homeland Security Color System is a waste of time.

Keep up the good work though, God forbid there be another
9-11, but this country does need all the eyes and ears it can get when terrorism is a major concern.
