Heavenly Father,

We continue to rejoice in the message of Easter and in the hope given to us through the death and resurrection of Your beloved Son. It is a mystery to us that You loved us enough to sacrifice Your Lamb for our sins but we accept the gift of salvation bought so dearly at Calvary. We are grateful for Your forgiveness that we might have fellowship with you. And we ask You to admonish us, to instruct us, and to lead us through each day.

Lord, we pray for our military, who have given much to defend our nation and to bring liberty to others. Even today young men and women are leaving home and heading to hostile lands for a noble cause. Bless them and be their Shield. Others are returning home and having to adjust back into life and family in the States. Help them to make this transition smoothly. Yet others are dealing with injuries and rehabilitation; bring them healing and courage. And we are always mindful of those who made the ultimate sacrifice; hold their families close to Your heart and give them strength and peace.

Lord, we pray, too, for their Commander-in-Chief. Place Your wisdom within President Bush that the decisions he makes might be within Your will. Guide his steps that he might stay on the narrow path of righteousness, for Your Name's sake. Let his faith grow stronger and his witness grow bolder with each passing day. Father, our President has many enemies, both foreign and domestic. We pray for Your protection for him and for his family.

Lord, President Reagan spoke of our beloved nation as a "city that is set on a hill," giving light to all the world. Yet it seems to us that that light has dimmed. The political battles have gotten uglier; the culture of death has taken a stronger hold; immorality and debauchery have become more rampant in the past few decades. Forgive us, Lord. Restore to us the saltiness that helps to preserve Your Word and Your commandments. Instill in us a desire to seek Your will and do to Your bidding that the light may brighten once again and America might once again be known as "one nation, under God." In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Amen, Kayak, in agreement with your heart of love for the Father, our military, our President and our country.
