Psalm 115:1

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us,
But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy,
Because of Your truth.

Heavenly Father,

The Palmist expresses so well the thoughts that are in our hearts. Lord, we are nothing but You are Everything. You are our Creator, the Author of our faith, our Sustainer and Redeemer, our Shield, our Comforter, our Master, and so much more. Your mercy knows no bounds and Your truth is everlasting. We praise You and worship You and You alone.

Father, our President is a man who relishes life and the challenges it presents. He carries heavy burdens and yet, because You are the Foundation of his life, he is joyful and at peace yet compassionate and concerned. Let him stay focused on the Cross so that he remains aware that You are the Source of strength and wisdom in his life. Bless him with all the qualities that he needs to fulfill the duties set before him. Lord, we are blessed not only to have a man of faith as President but also to have a lovely First Lady who is the essence of grace and class. Let their marriage grow ever stronger and be a blessing and a haven for them both. Watch over them and keep them safe from all harm as they serve both our nation and You, their Lord.

Father, we thank You for our men and women in uniform. Their courage and sacrifice is an inspiration to us all. Be their Defender; give them cunning and wisdom in fighting an enemy who wishes to destroy us all. Hold them and their families in the palm of Your hand while they are absent one from another.

Lord, the Paalmist speaks of Your truth. How much an awareness is needed in our nation that Your truth is unbending and constant; that Your commandments are for us today as they were for Moses and the children of Israel; that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. There are elements in our society that want to defame Your Name rather than keep it holy; who seek ways to rationalize killing; who covet what others have gained through Your blessing and their own hard work; who flaunt all Your commandments. Father, give Your children the boldness and courage to speak up on Your behalf and to stand for Your truth that Your will might be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Send Your Holy Spirit to convict those who are unaware of their sins and to bring them to their knees before You. Revive our nation and restore in us a desire to please You and to walk the path that You have set before us. In the Name of our precious Savior, Jesus. Amen.

AMEN KAYAK!

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
(NKJV)

"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
- Psalm 22:1

We here behold the Saviour in the depth of his sorrows. No other place so
well shows the griefs of Christ as Calvary, and no other moment at Calvary
is so full of agony as that in which his cry rends the air-"My God, my
God, why hast thou forsaken me?" At this moment physical weakness was
united with acute mental torture from the shame and ignominy through which
he had to pass; and to make his grief culminate with emphasis, he suffered
spiritual agony surpassing all expression, resulting from the departure of
his Father's presence. This was the black midnight of his horror; then it
was that he descended the abyss of suffering. No man can enter into the
full meaning of these words.
Some of us think at times that we could cry, "My God, my God, why hast
thou forsaken me?" There are seasons when the brightness of our Father's
smile is eclipsed by clouds and darkness; but let us remember that God
never does really forsake us.
It is only a seeming forsaking with us, but in Christ's case it was a
real forsaking.
We grieve at a little withdrawal of our Father's love; but the real
turning away of God's face from his Son, who shall calculate how deep the
agony which it caused him?

In our case, our cry is often dictated by unbelief: in his case, it was
the utterance of a dreadful fact, for God had really turned away from him
for a season. O thou poor, distressed soul, who once lived in the sunshine
of God's face, but art now in darkness, remember that he has not really
forsaken thee. God in the clouds is as much our God as when he shines
forth in all the lustre of his grace; but since even the thought that he
has forsaken us gives us agony, what must the woe of the Saviour have been
when he exclaimed, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

C.H.SPURGEON.

SOLI DEO GLORIA!

Amen to your wonderful prayer, kayak.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for all the blessings You have given us. We thank You for President Bush, his family, and his administration. We pray for their health and safety as they all strive to work for our great country.

We pray for the military men and women who are serving our great country for our freedom and peace. We especially pray for their families and hope they can all be reunited soon.

We ask these blessings in Your Son's Precious Name, Amen.

Father, we ask that You surround the President and his staff with men and women who make their hearts and ears attentive to godly counsel and follow after righteousness. Cause them to be men and women of integrity. We pray that You would cause the upright to dwell in our government but that the wicked shall be cut off and treacherous rooted out of it.

Thank You, our Lord, for hearing and answering our prayers. We worship You for Your goodness, faithfulness and for being Immanuel, God with us.

In the name of Your precious Son, Jesus, amen.
