Who Was the CBS Forger? - (Why no investigation?)
A.I.M.ORG ^ | APRIL 15, 2005 | SHERRIE GOSSETT

Now that the brouhaha over Dan Rather's "Memogate" scandal is no longer front-and-center in the national media, one has to wonder why there's been no closure to the issue of the documents themselves. Bill Burkett, the supplier of the documents to CBS, changed his story on the source of the documents, ultimately claiming that one "Lucy Ramirez" gave them to him. No one even knows who Lucy Ramirez is, if she exists of if she's another figment of Burkett's imagination. Surely, a scoop on where the documents came from would be huge. Reporters, even those at CBS could be working on this story themselves. Doing so would give the image at least of contrition and dedication to getting to the bottom of the story. A reporter who broke this scoop would put his or her name on the map. So why has there been not even a single indication of effort in this direction?

Well, now that just might incriminate the Kerry campaign. Couldn't do that.

I'd love to know the answer to that question, but I have a feeling that we'll never know.

I believe several persons were pretty well implicated and may prove to be extremely embarassing to the SeeBS. Dan Blather being one of them.

In any case, several were let go, and Dan the Man retired with little word left behind. Silence sure is telling the story there!

On he other hand, who the hell cares?

The logical forger is Burkett himself.

As well as possession of the forged documents themselves, he had the wherewithal, the temperament and the motive -- a seething hatred of all things both Bush and Republican.

Moreover, the incorrect military terminology employed in the documents which wasn't consistent with the Air National Guard (e.g., "billet") was consistent with Army National Guard terminology. And Burkett, of course, had been an Army NG officer.

Like many things, Lucy Ramirez was yet another figment of Burkett's over-active imagination.

It is amazing how often Republicans will let Democrats and their allies get away with crap like this.

There are only two halfway logical reasons behind inaction here;

1) The Reps are hoping to lure the offender into repeating, to either thereby get enough evidence to go after him and/or embarass the MSM again.

2) They know Burkett created the fakes and going after him will just allow the MSM to proclaim it was duped and to portray the Republicans as meanies going after a mentally disturbed individual.

I was just thinking the same thing. Only the silence from the Bush camp is more mysterious than the silence from the SeeBS crowd. If somebody released forged documents about me, I'd want it investigated and the forgerer prosecuted. That's not being pushed by the Bush admin. Why?

"On he other hand, who the hell cares?"

Put it this way. Imagine - just imagine - if Karl Rove had actually mounted some stunt similar to Rathergate, but aimed at sliming John False Kerry. Can you possibly visualize the "Sturm und Drang" that would have erupted in all of the MSM and throughout the halls of congress?

We should KNOW who fabricated those documents.....and one little detail. They were NOT "forgeries." A forgery is an inauthentic copy of something that already exists; e.g. "forged $100 bill" - These were fabrications - not "forgeries." There were no original documents of that nature and description to be forged!

Hmph-h-h-h!

"They know Burkett created the fakes..."

Do you believe that it was Burkett all along?....and that he just made up the story about the woman who "handed them to him" at some cattle show?

Whether is was Burkett or some not-so-bright computer geek whom Burkett hired to make them, my guess is that George W. Bush, Karl Rove and anyone close to the whole Bush family and inner circle must know who actually did this! They're Texans, for pete's sake! They must have just about every inch of what's important and what's going down in Texas.....covered like a blanket!

Halfway being the operative word. President Bush can't go after them because he buys into the polls that there are more out here against him than for him. If Sandy Burgler, the Klintoons et al are any example of what happens when you are caught red handed what would they possibly do to any of these criminals at cbs? Blather still keeps his face in front of us instead of being shamed into oblivion.

Probably not. But as I mentioned, considering Republican inaction, this is the most logical alternative.

If they believe that there is even a small chance of this getting back to Kerry, the DNC, or Rather's daughter this would be a potential political goldmine for the Republicans and then we would only be left with that other alternative I suggested - one that seems much less likely to me.

Though I must say I am amazed to this day that more fakes didn't follow the TANG ones. I certainly expected it.

Who created these forgeries was always a more interesting story than what the documents purported against President Bush. You would think that the journalistic juices would be surging at CBS to get to the bottom of that story. That they are not, speaks volumes as to who was culpable.

I think it's because the SeeBS is doing a good job burying itself in trying to distance themselve from the mess. The Bush Adminstration doesn't have to do anything.

That is a smart way to go about it! Why lower yourself into the same gutter they are in!! Look how quiet they are being about it! LOL

They probably originated from down Sandy Berger's pants...

So we'll never get to the bottom of that...

The Administration is working pretty hard to get things done; Rice @ State, Bolton @ UN, Rummy @ Defense, Gross @ CIA, etc...IMO, GWB has done yeoman work and held up his part in changing the tone in DC. He can't do it overnight!
Now if he will just get serious on the Immigration problem and get the Justices he wants, I will start feeling even better.
