Psalm 145: 3-9

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And on Your wondrous works.
Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,
And I will declare Your greatness.
They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness.
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion,
Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The LORD is good to all,
And His tender mercies are over all His works.

Heavenly Father,

We can but agree with the eloquence of the Psalmist who speaks of Your greatness. His words express the feelings residing in the depths of our souls. Your greatness is immeasurable and Your mercy is our hope and our salvation.

Lord, we are grateful for a President and First Lady who praise Your name and look to You for help; whose love for You and for each other are a joy to behold; and whose true caring for others is reflected in their faces. We lift them up to You, asking for Your blessings to rain down upon them. Be their safe Harbor and continue to lead them through each day.

We are filled with gratitude for those who have served our nation in uniform, both in the past and currently. It is their bravery and self-sacrifice that have helped to preserve the liberties that You bestowed upon this great nation. What a privilege it is to live in a nation where such men and women voluntarily lay their very lives on the line for others. Keep Your providential eye on all those in our military and especially those who are engaged against a brutal and vicious enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Father, as we dwell on our nation's short but rich history, we are overwhelmed at the goodness you have shown to us. Yet as we see a culture of death arising; as we observe many trying to blot Your very name from public places; as we witness the degradation of our society we wonder what future generations will say about our times. Lord, we implore You to forgive us and to send Your Holy Spirit across the face of our nation, touching hearts that have gone cold and opening ears that have gone deaf to the majesty of Your Word. Rekindle in our land a desire to declare Your greatness and a longing to obey Your commandments. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Praying in agreement with you tonight, kayak. Thank you for sharing the wonderful Psalm (one of my favorites) and for leading us in your heartfelt prayer.

AMEN KAYAK!

GRACE TO ALL WHO JOIN HERE IN PRAYER!

O Lord God,

There is no blessing we implore

but thou art able to give,

hast promised to give,

hast given already to countless multitudes,

all unworthy and guilty like ourselves;

Make us willing to receive the supply

of our need from thy bounty.

To this end convince us of sin,

soften our hard hearts,

to bewail our folly, ingratitude, pride,

unbelief, rebellion, corruption.

Through the law may we die to the law,

then look with wonder, submission, delight,

to the provision thou hast made

for the glory of thy Name

in the salvation of sinners.

Give us a hope that makes us not ashamed,

a love that excites to holy obedience,

a joy in thee that is our strength,

a faith in thy Son who loved us and died for us.

May we persevere in duty

when not fully conscious of thee,

wait upon thee and keep thy way,

be humble and earnest suppliants at thy feet,

live continually as on the brink of eternity.

Let us be at thy disposal for the duties

and events of life,

submit our preferences to thy wisdom and will,

resign our enjoyments if thou shouldest require it

as our absolute Proprietor and best Friend.

In our unworthiness and provocations

make us grateful for the means of grace

and the ordinances of religion

and teach us to profit by them

more than we have done.

Help us to be in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day,

to enter upon the sabbath mindful of its

solemnities, duties, privileges,

setting all things worldly aside

while we worship thee.

May we know the blessedness of men

whose strength is in thee,

and in whose hearts are the highways

to heaven.

A PURITANS PRAYER!

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
- Psalm 30:5

Christian! If thou art in a night of trial, think of the morrow; cheer up
thy heart with the thought of the coming of thy Lord. Be patient, for

"Lo! He comes with clouds descending."

Be patient! The Husbandman waits until he reaps his harvest. Be patient;
for you know who has said, "Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with
me, to give to every man according as his work shall be." If you are never
so wretched now, remember

"A few more rolling suns, at most,
Will land thee on fair Canaan's coast."

Thy head may be crowned with thorny troubles now, but it shall wear a
starry crown ere long; thy hand may be filled with cares-it shall sweep
the strings of the harp of heaven soon.
Thy garments may be soiled with dust now; they shall be white by-and-by.
Wait a little longer.
Ah! how despicable our troubles and trials will seem when we look back
upon them! Looking at them here in the prospect, they seem immense; but
when we get to heaven we shall then

"With transporting joys recount,
The labours of our feet."

Our trials will then seem light and momentary afflictions. Let us go on
boldly; if the night be never so dark, the morning cometh, which is more
than they can say who are shut up in the darkness of hell.
Do you know what it is thus to live on the future-to live on
expectation-to antedate heaven? Happy believer, to have so sure, so
comforting a hope.
It may be all dark now, but it will soon be light; it may be all trial
now, but it will soon be all happiness.
What matters it though "weeping may endure for a night," when "joy cometh
in the morning?"

Thank you for leading us so eloquently and in the Spirit of our living God. Amen to it all.

Lord, we also continue to ask for favor for your nation, Israel, in our Government. May they bless her and stand with her.

I also ask Father, for laborers to surround our President with wisdom and wise counsel. Surely, Holy Spirit, you are the Great Counselor, but I am asking for people to come forward who are motivated by You and who will provide any missing information that is necessary to make proper decisions.

Thank You, Lord, our King, for the work You are surely doing to straighten out our judiciary system. We continue to ask and believe for truth and righteousness to prevail.

We bless You for being Lord of All. In the Living God do we trust. Amen.
