TAIPEI - A man in Taiwan has died and four others were poisoned after drinking a popular bottled fizzy drink laced with cyanide and labelled "I am poisonous. Please do not drink."
Some of the victims thought the warning was a new advertising slogan, police said on Thursday.
The manufacturer of Bullwild energy drink, Paolyta Co., ordered an island-wide recall of about 1.2 million to 1.6 million bottles. The drink, which is popular among taxi drivers and workers, has also been taken off shelves in Hong Kong and Macau.
Police suspect someone laced the drink with cyanide before placing it on store shelves, and released footage taken from a surveillance camera of a man in his 20s or 30s in the hope the public could help identify him.
A 55-year-old man died of cyanide poisoning late on Wednesday and four victims remained in hospital, two in critical condition, police said.
Another bright one bites the dust.
My neighbor just got a new dog -- I think he's named "Dangerous Animal: Do Not Enter Yard". Weirdest name I've ever seen. Anyway, I'm going to sneak over the fence after work and make friends with him ...
I guess it's like the rating system on programs, if it's rated MA, it' must be worth watching. On another note, why would the store allow something labeled as such to not only be put on the shelf but, remain for consumption once discovered?
Just my thoughts.
The Tylenol terrorist rides again.
Don't know if this is worthy of the just damn ping... thought I'd pass it off to you, just in case.
***shakes head and walks away***
Great story! I'm LMBO!!!
Oh sure, and now you'll probably tell me dropping the hair dryer in the bathtub whilst taking a bath is hazardous to my health..
This is definitely Darwin award worthy. Simply classic.
Ping.
I read this. And I honestly didn't get it.
If this drink was tampered with at the store, why was a warning label put on it?
So that only stupid people would get killed by it.
::laughs::
They have pulled millions of bottles, so someone thinks it was tampered with before it got to the store.
One of the later posts said it was in more than one store.
Difficult to guess who thought this one up.
How are you doing?
I found my goat picture...now I have to get it scanned, and my scanner won't work with Windows XP. hmmmmmmm.
Soon, I hope!
Terrie.
"I found my goat picture...now I have to get it scanned, and my scanner won't work with Windows XP. hmmmmmmm. "
I'm mad at XP for disabling my CD player on my laptop. I installed XP on the laptop and for some strange reason, XP decided the CD player wasn't compatible. Strange programming in XP and I don't appreciate it.
Maybe it's a conspiracy to get us to purchase new equipment?? LOL
Hi Terri,
Thanks to a bunch of prayers, I am a little better for now.
LOL, no, not well enough to get a goat.
I will be waiting for a photo of your goat, when you get it scanned.
Do you keep goats now? ( I may have forgotten if you told me before.)
Stay well and happy, may God keep you safe.
