Pray for President Bush - Day 1711
Pray for President Bush ^ | 5/25/05 | kayak

Psalm 5: 8-12

Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness
because of my enemies—
make straight your way before me.

Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with destruction.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongue they speak deceit.

Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
       for they have rebelled against you.

But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Heavenly Father,

It is with grateful hearts that we come before You, aware that You are the Lord God Almighty and yet You care enough for us that You even know the number of hairs on our heads. Your love and Your mercy are beyond our ability to fully comprehend and yet we accept these precious gifts of Yours in faith, knowing that You are always steadfast and true to Your Word. When we stumble, You are there to pick us up; when we are angry, You are there to bring calm to our spirits; when we hurt, You are our Comforter; when we grieve, only You can offer true consolation and hope. You are sufficient for all our needs, O Lord, and we offer our praise and adoration to You in humility and a desire to serve You and bring glory to Your Name.

Father, our President's enemies, both foreign and domestic, are numerous. Many of these despise him because they fear You and the love that he professes for You. They would stoop to any depth and tell any lie to bring discredit to him. Lord, honor his committment to You by being his Shield from those who seek to harm him politically, spiritually, or physically. Keep him stayed on Your Word that he may remain true to Your will. Place Your wisdom within him and lead him in Your righteousness. Let him not waiver on issues of life but stay the course that You have set before him.

We thank You for Your protection of Laura Bush as she traveled overseas. Her grace and inner beauty have been an inspiration to many as she has served as an ambassador of the goodness and gentleness of America and our care for the oppressed.

Lord, our hearts are filled with gratitude at the confirmation of one of the President's judicial nominations but the battles ahead promise to be ugly, destructive, and deceitful. Speak to those who have rebelled against You and touch their souls, speaking to their inner beings of the value of life, especially those most innocent of us all, the unborn. There are many in positions of power who wish to impose as a litmus test the issue of abortion. We are helpless to change their views but You, O Lord, can send Your Holy Spirit to convict them of the sinfulness of their ways. Open their hearts that they may vote for life, whether it be on the confirmation of judges or on the concerns about stem cell research or other matters before them.

As we learn of more battles in Iraq, we increase our prayers for our troops. Father, help them to find the evil ones who oppose freedom; guide the leaders and the planners as they formulate tactics to defeat the enemy. Defend our troops as they defend liberty. We plead for You, the Great Physician, to heal those who are wounded and ask for Your comfort for the families of those brave men who have made the ultimate sacrifice in this noble cause.

Lord, we are vexed at what we see happening in our beloved America; how much more must You be saddened to see the sins of our nation. Forgive us, O Lord, and hear our pleas; revive in our people a desire to seek Your will and to follow Your ways. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Amen, Lord. We grieve over those in the President's own party who have chosen to promote their own names and their own agendas rather than support him. Father, we grieve over those who claim to be one thing and yet in reality they are blown about by the wind and stand for nothing. We pray that You would convict them of the full knowledge of Your truth, and that You would cause this trickery and sabotage to work for our President's good and for Your glory. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!

GRACE TO ALL BRETHREN!

"Forsake me not, O Lord."
- Psalm 38:21

Frequently we pray that God would not forsake us in the hour of trial and
temptation, but we too much forget that we have need to use this prayer at
all times. There is no moment of our life, however holy, in which we can
do without his constant upholding. Whether in light or in darkness, in
communion or in temptation, we alike need the prayer, "Forsake me not, O
Lord." "Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe." A little child, while
learning to walk, always needs the nurse's aid. The ship left by the pilot
drifts at once from her course. We cannot do without continued aid from
above; let it then be your prayer to-day, "Forsake me not. Father, forsake
not thy child, lest he fall by the hand of the enemy. Shepherd, forsake
not thy lamb, lest he wander from the safety of the fold. Great
Husbandman, forsake not thy plant, lest it wither and die. 'Forsake me
not, O Lord,' now; and forsake me not at any moment of my life. Forsake me
not in my joys, lest they absorb my heart. Forsake me not in my sorrows,
lest I murmur against thee. Forsake me not in the day of my repentance,
lest I lose the hope of pardon, and fall into despair; and forsake me not
in the day of my strongest faith, lest faith degenerate into presumption.
Forsake me not, for without thee I am weak, but with thee I am strong.
Forsake me not, for my path is dangerous, and full of snares, and I cannot
do without thy guidance.
The hen forsakes not her brood, do thou then evermore cover me with thy
feathers, and permit me under thy wings to find my refuge.
'Be not far from me, O Lord, for trouble is near, for there is none to
help.
' 'Leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation!'"

"O ever in our cleansed breast,
Bid thine Eternal Spirit rest;
And make our secret soul to be
A temple pure and worthy thee."

The memory of the righteous will be a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.
--The Bible, Proverbs 10:7 (NIV)

Thank you for leading the Prayer once again today...the prayers and thoughts posted on these threads are a great source of inspiration.
