Psalm 66:16

Come and hear, all you who fear God,
And I will declare what He has done for my soul.

O Lord,

You are the Alpha and the Omega; the Author and Finisher of our faith. Though we have sinned grievously You have loved us, accepted us, adopted us into Your family, and covered our sins with the blood of Your own precious Son. Our words are feeble but our hearts are filled with gratitude for Your incomparable grace and mercy.

Father, daily we see the work of the devil in our nation and throughout the world. We see violence, greed, lies, treachery, lust for power, disregard for life, debauchery, and other such vile things. We plead with You to send Your Holy Spirit to those who walk in darkness, shining the pure light of Your Truth to reveal the secrets of the shadows in their lives so that they must face the truth and bow before You, proclaiming You as Lord.

One of the targets of much of this hatred and deceit is our own President, George W. Bush. Father, he does proclaim what You have done for his soul and he calls Your name with great joy. Watch over Your servant and bestow upon him Your wisdom, patience, strength, courage, and peace as he shoulders burdens we can barely imagine. Be a Shield for him, turning away those things intended to bring him harm. Hold his beloved wife and daughters under the very shadow of Your wings, keeping them safe. Enrich his marriage with each passing day that it may become ever more a refuge and a comfort as he and Laura grow closer to You and to each other.

Lord, we pray without ceasing for those in our military, volunteers all, who have made great sacrifices to defend freedom and yet all too often they receive scorn rather than gratitude and appreciation. Bind the wounds of those who have been injured and comfort the bereaved who have lost loved ones. We ask all these things in the Name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

AMEN KAYAK

GRACE TO ALL BRETHREN!

"He humbled himself."
- Philippians 2:8

Jesus is the great teacher of lowliness of heart. We need daily to learn
of him. See the Master taking a towel and washing his disciples' feet!
Follower of Christ, wilt thou not humble thyself? See him as the Servant
of servants, and surely thou canst not be proud! Is not this sentence the
compendium of his biography, "He humbled himself"? Was he not on earth
always stripping off first one robe of honour and then another, till,
naked, he was fastened to the cross, and there did he not empty out his
inmost self, pouring out his life-blood, giving up for all of us, till
they laid him penniless in a borrowed grave? How low was our dear Redeemer
brought! How then can we be proud? Stand at the foot of the cross, and
count the purple drops by which you have been cleansed; see the
thorn-crown; mark his scourged shoulders, still gushing with encrimsoned
rills; see hands and feet given up to the rough iron, and his whole self
to mockery and scorn; see the bitterness, and the pangs, and the throes of
inward grief, showing themselves in his outward frame; hear the thrilling
shriek, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" And if you do not lie
prostrate on the ground before that cross, you have never seen it: if you
are not humbled in the presence of Jesus, you do not know him. You were so
lost that nothing could save you but the sacrifice of God's only begotten.
Think of that, and as Jesus stooped for you, bow yourself in lowliness at
his feet. A sense of Christ's amazing love to us has a greater tendency to
humble us than even a consciousness of our own guilt. May the Lord bring
us in contemplation to Calvary, then our position will no longer be that
of the pompous man of pride, but we shall take the humble place of one who
loves much because much has been forgiven him.
Pride cannot live beneath the cross.
Let us sit there and learn our lesson, and then rise and carry it into
practice.

Amen and thank you, Kayak

Oh, Lord, how our hearts ache along with Yours as we see those unenlightened people marching to an eternity apart from You. We ask for grace and more grace and sufficient grace to draw them with the Spirit of Truth, the great gift of laborers in the harvest and the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. We proclaim along with our founders that this is one nation under God. We know that there is only one God, whose Son is Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer.

We pray for favor for our President in those plans he has received from You. Surround him with the support and encouragement that he needs. Be the Lord of the breakthrough in our judicial system.

For our military, we pray that you will heal them of their wounds according to Your great grace and mercy.

You are God Almighty, King of the Universe and the Truth. Your children worship You and give You thanks for the great privilege and honor of coming boldly before Your throne of mercy to find help in time of need.

Jesus is Lord.

Amen.
