Pray for President Bush - Day 1726
Pray for President Bush ^ | 6/9/05 | kayak

Psalm 70: 1-5

Hasten, O God, to save me;
O LORD, come quickly to help me.

May those who seek my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.

May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"
turn back because of their shame.

But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation always say,
"Let God be exalted!"

Yet I am poor and needy;
come quickly to me, O God.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O LORD, do not delay.

Heavenly Father,

We come together in prayer, lifting up one another as well as our President, our military, and our nation. One of Your many gifts to us is the blessing of prayer -- the privilege of coming into Your very presence to praise Your Name, to listen for the messages that You have for us, and to lay our burdens at Your feet. Often we are at a loss for words but we have Your assurance that You know what is in our hearts and Your Holy Spirit will take our innermost thoughts to You. In our private devotions, Lord, teach us to hear You and to seek Your will for our lives. And let our every thought and word and deed witness to Your glory, Your majesty, Your goodness, and Your mercy.

Lord, President Bush has many who desire his ruin in one way or another; turn them back in disgrace. Let their words and actions be turned back upon them and let their deceit be revealed for all to see. Keep George W. Bush humble and obedient to You, always desiring to walk the narrow path of righteousness. Bless him with the wisdom of Solomon, the faith of Abraham, the zeal of Peter and Paul, the great love for You that Your Son's beloved disciple John held. Give him courage and perception as well as the peace that passes understanding. Let Your angels always stand watch over him and his family that no harm may come to them.

Father, we are ever grateful for those in our military. They endure great hardship and danger to protect our freedom and to bring liberty to others. Make them aware of the nobility of their service; guide their actions; and draw each of them closer to You that they may know the joy of fellowship with You.

We pray for those people that our troops have sacrificed to liberate. Let them use their new freedom wisely and not fall back into the oppressive ways from which they have escaped. We dare to hope, Father, for the day that Your light will shine in those nations and Your Name will be praised as the gospel of Your precious Son becomes known.

We thank You for the steps forward that have been made in the appointment of judges but we also realize that tough battles are ahead. Lord, let Your will be done; let those judges who revere life and who value the Constitution be confirmed. We yearn for a return to the days when Your Name was glorified in America and Your commandments were upheld. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, and bring renewal to our nation. Let our beloved country be once again a place where You are exalted. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Heavenly Father,
We thank you for our many blessings, for keeping our country safe, for protecting our president and his advisors and for our beloved soldiers as they protect our nation.
Amen

AMEN KAYAK!

GRACE TO ALL BRETHREN!

"Search the Scriptures."
- John 5:39

The Greek word here rendered search signifies a strict, close, diligent,
curious search, such as men make when they are seeking gold, or hunters
when they are in earnest after game. We must not rest content with having
given a superficial reading to a chapter or two, but with the candle of
the Spirit we must deliberately seek out the hidden meaning of the word.
Holy Scripture requires searching-much of it can only be learned by
careful study. There is milk for babes, but also meat for strong men. The
rabbis wisely say that a mountain of matter hangs upon every word, yea,
upon every title of Scripture. Tertullian exclaims, "I adore the fulness
of the Scriptures." No man who merely skims the book of God can profit
thereby; we must dig and mine until we obtain the hid treasure. The door
of the word only opens to the key of diligence. The Scriptures claim
searching. They are the writings of God, bearing the divine stamp and
imprimatur- who shall dare to treat them with levity? He who despises them
despises the God who wrote them. God forbid that any of us should leave
our Bibles to become swift witnesses against us in the great day of
account. The word of God will repay searching. God does not bid us sift a
mountain of chaff with here and there a grain of wheat in it, but the
Bible is winnowed corn-we have but to open the granary door and find it.
Scripture grows upon the student. It is full of surprises. Under the
teaching of the Holy Spirit, to the searching eye it glows with splendour
of revelation, like a vast temple paved with wrought gold, and roofed with
rubies, emeralds, and all manner of gems. No merchandise like the
merchandise of Scripture truth. Lastly, the Scriptures reveal Jesus: "They
are they which testify of me.
" No more powerful motive can be urged upon Bible readers than this: he
who finds Jesus finds life, heaven, all things.
Happy he who, searching his Bible, discovers his Saviour.
