BAQOUBA, Iraq -- Joint Iraqi and U.S. security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to ambush a truck delivering ballots to the nearby city of Muqtadiya yesterday, one in a series of attacks ahead of tomorrow's vote on a permanent constitution.
A decoy convoy -- disguised to look like it was carrying ballots from the Iraqi Electoral Commission and heavily armed with Iraqi forces -- drew fire from terrorists hiding in a palm grove outside of Baqouba at midday.
Unknown to the enemy, three ordinary pickup trucks carrying the real ballots already were delivering the precious cargo to the city of Muqtadiya, an hour's drive away.
Thirty Iraqi soldiers, accompanied by a reporter-photographer for The Washington Times, were assigned to the dummy convoy. It was an all-Iraqi operation. No U.S. soldiers were present.
The Iraqis were ready for a fight.

How can this be? I was specifically told by Nancy Pelosi there is no plan and we are winging it. These troops aren't supposed to be that well trained. I am confused.

"I am confused."
Listening to Pelosi tends to have that effect on people. ;)

America's enemies in Iraq and Washington crow about. Vietnam but they don't realize that we learned from that experience and are now doing the teaching.

Awesome. Simply awesome. Given enough time, we will see many more such operations by the Iraqis. After all, it is their country they are fighting for now.

I'm not about to register for it, though ...That may be just as well. I have been registered a long time and have had no trouble but today I was rejected. They said my email doesn't exist. I tried to reregister and got the same thing. That is enough effort for taday.

This is just great. Those that are able to hear and see the news in Iraq will see their own handling the situation and bring about more cooperation from the regular citizens.

CNN, the bad 3 networks, MSNBC, etc. will probably accuse the Iraqi good guys of cheating and right wing deception in attacking the freedom fighters who are only trying to free their country from US occupation.
To: slowhand520
Pelosi's has eyes wide shut. She's a baffoon, a liar, and if you look closely you can see that she hates herself.

Looks like Saudi Jr. is starting to gain traction. Let's hold hands with our newest best buds, Iraq's government. Don't get me wrong. I love it.

Just going to
http://www.washtimes.com worked fine, no login. I read it this morning and it is a pretty good story. I have a friend in Baqouba and he has told me several stories that give me more and more faith in the Iraqi Army and some of its leadership. These guys know the stakes and risks and keep showing up.
The best quote in the article is from a US Army Lt Col - "These [Iraqi soldiers] are ordinary guys that rose to the occasion. In their lifetime, they have never experienced freedom, and now they're defending it with their lives," - Outstanding.
